Also, going to Chasers Motorworks on Monday. Ordering in a Nistune board and also booking in my 90k km service with them.

All up, including service, supply of board and tune should cost me $1100. Hopefully they'll look after me... Cant wait to see the difference after a tune!

Chasers seems alright, a lot of nice show/ race cars are always in there. My old office in the same strip. Good bunch of guys but that was 3 years ago.

Let us know how you go with Chasers and the work they do. I would be most interested.

That looks like a nice car. Very rare combo of black, factory RS4s manual and sunroofs. These cars don't come up very often in that factory spec.

thanks mate :) i'm looking at possibly a new front end though... just have nfi what to look for at the moment!!

i wish my rs4s was black :(

I love black, but its a bitch to keep clean!!

Also, looking at a front grill...

These guys alright? Or pain in the arse with shipping and customs??

That won't fit your car as it is for a series one and you've got a series two. Check out Import Monster, I got my NA grill (pretty much the same as the one in your link) through them for about $180, and it only took about a week to get from Japan to Tassie. One like this:

Thanks mate. That should fit straight into my S2? Or do you need to modify it further to fit it?

That should fit straight on as far as I know. Series 2 grills have the holes for the fog lights, series 1 grills don't. Apart from that they are pretty standard as far as I am aware. Mine just fitted straight on when I got it.

Dont really want to buy both for the sake of seeing which looks nicer haha

Seeing as I'm located in Deer Park and fairly close to you, happy to let you take mine off and trial fit it on yours to make up your mind.

Mine is the second grill and painted black but it now is a bit flakey, suppose it'll still give you an idea how it'll look.

I have the second one on my white car, but it has been painted black with the badges unclipped, so no chrome.

I'm happy with it on a white background, might be too much black for a black car.

It came like that imported, but I did notice you can get similar mesh at all the auto (and hardware?) stores :)

never had a problem at all, had the car well over two years now, and not a single problem from the po-po

(considering I've got a carbon fibre hood, bov, fmic, pod, no cat and 3' turbo back... :D)

they prob like... hmmmm volvo... nice volvo... now where's the skyline that has that bov.. *turns head*

I vote get the mesh and see what you think dude .. I think it looks way better than any of the stock grills.

If you are not too sure better to spend less cash and get it looking a little nicer while you make up your mind.

Although most member seem to have stock grills so I'd keep yours

Heres the front of mine with the series two grill if you want to know exactly what yours would look like

    • Yep, pretty much what you said is a good summary. The aftermarket thing just attached to the rim, then has two lines out to valve stems, one to inner wheel, one to outer wheel. Some of the systems even start to air up as you head towards highway speed. IE, you're in the logging tracks, then as speeds increase it knows you're on tarmac and airs up so the driver doesn't even have to remember. I bet the ones that need driver intervention to air up end up seeing a lot more tyre wear from "forest pressures" in use on the highway!
    • Yes, but you need to do these type certifications for tuning parts. That is the absurd part here. Meaning tuning parts are very costly (generally speaking) as well as the technical test documentation for say a turbo swap with more power. It just makes modifying everything crazy expensive and complicated. That bracket has been lost in translation many years ago I assume, it was not there.
    • Hahaha, yeah.... not what you'd call a tamper-proof design.... but yes, with the truck setup, the lines are always connected, but typically they sit just inside the plane of the rear metal mudguards, so if you clear the guards you clear the lines as well. Not rogue 4WD tracks with tree branches and bushes everywhere, ready to hook-up an air hose. You can do it externally like a mod, but dedicated setups air-pressurize the undriven hubs, and on driven axles you can do the same thing, or pressurize the axles (lots of designs out there for this idea)... https://www.trtaustralia.com.au/traction-air-cti-system/  for example.... ..the trouble I've got here... wrt the bimmer ad... is the last bit...they don't want to show it spinning, do they.... give all the illusion that things are moving...but no...and what the hell tyre profile is that?...25??? ...far kernel, rims would be dead inside 10klms on most roads around here.... 😃
    • You're just describing how type certification works. Personally I would be shocked to discover that catalytic converter is not in the stock mounting position. Is there a bracket on the transfer case holding the catalytic converter and front pipe together? If so, it should be in stock position.
    • You talking about the ones in the photo above? I guess that could make sense. Fixed (but flexible) line from the point up above down to the hubcap thingo, with a rotating air seal thingo. Then fixed (but also still likely flexible) line from the "other side" of the transfer in the hub cap thingo up to the valve stem on the rim. A horrible cludge, but something that could be done. I'd bet on the Unimog version being fed through from the back, as part of the axle assembly, without the need for the vulnerable lines out to the sides. It's amazing what you can do when you have an idea that is not quite impossible. Nearly impossible, but not quite.
