Hey guys som im travelling to malaysia for a few months till jan next year, was wondering is it worth it going japan for a week or two before i come back to melb to import maybe a few cars and a lot of parts to sell here?

Im guessing its going to cost me $1000 a week plus flights just to travel there, would the price difference of parts and cars leave any worthwhile profit to do it?

im thinking of importing a 33 or 34 gtr and boost controllers ecus and other parts.

has anyone done this before or anything??

Worth traveling, yes; selling parts for profit, don't bother; finding a nice car for yourself or to bring back to Aus for sale, possibly...but the time doing the latter will outweigh the money you make unless you're going all out on something special. You'll only be a service fee better off than an importer here...~$1000-1500

How do you propose to get all the parts back here? In your suit case?

You still have to go through the normal importation laws, compliance. shipping and so on... Why you wouldn't go through a known broker etc here is beyond me.

You cannot bring in a whole car.

You MUST cut it in half if it's just for parts and put them into a container & bring it in as a half-cut. Or you need to have all the approvals and what not inplace with a plan to register/comply etc. This is to avoid people rebirthing etc. There is more too it of course, as thats just high level.

Although honestly if you didn't even know the basic info like that, you really shouldn't be thinking about bringing bulk-parts back as there is a bucket load more to consider (and costs) on top of that.
