Hey guys

About to purchase a motor and turbo setup.

Currently own a RB28 with almost unknown parts

Made 458kw on 22psi with a T04R.

Now was wanting to build a rb26/30 with a big turbo for street and to make big power.

I have found a motor and setup already built and was wondering other peoples opinions.

Its not cheap either but already done and built by a reputible shop that specialises in RB30 and RB in general.

I was unsure of the compression as its been left high on purpose

8:8:1 and it made 450rwkw on only 18psi with an auto behind it on pump fuel.

I am planning to run E85 anyway but can always change to thicker headgasket for less comp and more boost.

Apprently the head and plenum and exhuast side and turbo have all been matched to flow together.

Specs are as follows

Turbo:

Mr Turbo S72 GTS

800-1000hp rated

http://www.billetturbochargers.com/Billet_S72-GTS.ews

HEAD (supplied by 6boost)

- extensively ported

- 1mm oversized ferrea valves

- performance valve springs

- Tighe cams (274 intake, 278 exhaust, 11mm lift)

- Adjustable cam gears

- cometic head gasket

- rear oil drain in back of head returning to sump

BOTTOM END

- All the usual machining associated with a bottom end like this

- Argo rods and CP pistons

- 8.8:1 compression

- Ross harmonic balancer

- Jun oil pump

- oil restictors in block

- JPC sump

- half inch head and main studs

Im looking to make 500kw+ will the setup be right?

any help would be greatly apprecited

I would put it past it.was built by the business that builds all engines for "JPC" reputable Rb tuners and so on.

What do you's think about the turbo? I have no knowledge of these Apprently they spool quick for what they are due to billet compressor.

And any examples of that precision being used?

I'm interested in the s72 just want to here some feedback on it before I buy it.its with the motor and what he made the power with.4000rpm it reached 18psi with an auto

The thing is he ran a 10.0

Something felt wrong with it,

Was inspected at JPC and found the cooler pipe off the elbow of the turbo was coming off on boost, all of a sudden while it was on the dyno it started smoking and they found an injector failed and it melted a piston.

So it was pulled apart, inspected the bores and rebuilt the bottem end and it's still at the shop and he decided to sell it so basically I'll be buying a fresh engine.

Can't help with the billet turbo

Don't know anyone who uses one

Maybe give them a ring and ask about it,

My last dealings with them was good even though I didn't buy from them(I worked up the road from them upon a time)

They know their stuff and were happy to answer questions

    • I remember the days when E85 was priced in according to the $ per km outcome. Sure E85 was about 35% cheaper, but you also lost about 35% range... now it's fked..
    • They do. The pale yellow translucent ones from Japan were .... I dunno. Useless? Whiteline and SuperPro are probably fairly similar. There's bound to be a range of different hardnesses amongst the dozens of options on the market. The simple fact is that the pineapples don't get up inside the bush at all. They just sort of exist in the space between the washer/bracket and the subframe's bush outer tube, and...exert a bit of force between them? Or something like that. I'm sure that with enough provocation, they will simply allow one to more wrt the other.
    • I'm not sure they came in different hardnesses? Going from memory only - I had set them up in the balanced setup. I also have poly bushes, so I have both poly bushes and pineapples. This is what my memory tells me at least. I'll have to take a look under there to be sure. The tramp was so bad that I managed to eject/kill a diff bushing, so those I know are stock. The tramp is bad enough that you are 200% sure you are doing severe damage to the car. It's not just chirping or vibration, it feels like you're hitting a speed hump/kerb 10 times a second. The issue has persisted between subframes! (I went from Hicas to non hicas subframe and replaced every bush a few years ago now) so I'm entirely lost. Every arm is factory.
    • Can recommend the Frenchys kit, been using it 2 years now with no issue, very happy with it.  Only thing for me was upgrading the thermo fan but I am super fussy on cooling.   Also interested in electric AC, partly for boot mount to have a clean bay and partly would love the idea of cooling off the car before i get in. The battery setup to do that might be tricky / expensive though.  Found this an interesting watch.
    • I put Whiteline pineapples in my old 33, they came in a 6 pack of them, got rid of the axle tramp altogether, cheap, quick and easy install,  they were pretty solid units though...???high durometer???? and NVH was increased a fair bit How hard are the ones you installed?
