Depending on how easy it is to hack the interface ( easy most of the time) something like this would work ( windows is piss easy to hack if rhe hardware supports it )

http://www.ecutalk.com/interface.aspx

some one should give it a go!

Its not a big deal If you can get into the OS interface and hardware supports it already ??

Most of those china radios can be hacked easy to pop in your own graphics etc if you have time and it has the port or bluetooth to get into it most do

Since its just windows CE in most cases not Linux or propietarty software

Ipads can do it bluetooth and have a HD touch screen ? incar pc As well ? and ipads are way better lol you can surf porn on the road lol Not while driving of course lol

, that pop out format is old tech and blocks a/c controls and vents on a lot of cars ?? Farking hate it unless you car has no orther option

Its just not that cool to bother but feel free to go for it for sure ? always good to see interest

yea im not a of ipads 500 bucks min for something that does the same as an iphone. meh. fold out or double din either is fine, the video was really just for the program.....

Yeah on the cheap its cool but by the time you add the cost of cables etc your racking up a fair whack of $$

I know the double din china radio I have in my box in the shed could do it running CE 4 updating to the new version would open up a lot more options

not sure what chris thinks he could do it for cost wise ? but if the radio is cheap as hell it might be worth it

  • 2 weeks later...

that does look really cool, and having just had the laptop out using ECUtalk, it got me thinking, if all you want to do is use it to run an OBD interface - you can get basic netbooks for like $99 on ebay brand new, just run one of those in the car using the obd-usb cable....would also be able to have datascan, calumsult, conzult, repair manual etc right there on the netbook as well....much cheaper and neater than buying 14 different gauges.

    • Hi all   what short shifter do you use on your skykine r34?   my synchronous does have a problem and i was getting huge delay and grinding sound between 2nd and 3rd, did put shockproof red heavy stuff and it is great now/ no issues   would in your view short shifter screw this up?   people seems to suggest/ use cube short shifter and there is standard and premium. Seen review of premium as much better and less play. Thoughts?
    • Yeah, there's a bit of a density and friability difference between pebbles and any of those other things. Silicone will definitely float in oil and so will be mobile enough to move around. Although, again, if it is upstream of the filter it really shouldn't go any further. I would only ever worry about silicone when it is in places downstream of the filter. Upstream of the pickup is a whole 'nother matter. We've all seen what that does. I have seen the most abominable crap settled out in industrial gearboxes, trunnion lube systems and the like, without any sign that any of it has touched anything in the machine. Just chilling in the bottom, waiting for the inevitable operator error that causes the whole machine to need to be dismantled for repairs.
    • I have seen enough fire and brimstone from TSBs about roloc disks causing spun bearings that foreign object contamination is top of mind for me. For sufficiently large particles you might be right but usually it’s a distribution of debris and some of the larger particles can also break down and shed bits. If local shops report RTV contamination in a turbo is enough to wreck them I’m taking zero chances if I can help it.
