Strut Braces, Differences?

Hi there,

I have a R33 GTST and was told that a strut brace makes a huge difference.

(besides I feel the front of car is not as rigid as it could be)

There seem to be many different models of braces around, some are adjustable others are not.

Is there anything I should be aware of before I buy one?

Be careful because the GTR brace will not fit over the plenum in the GTST.

They do stiffen the front up a bit....but it is very important to remember that they have much less effect on a Skyline than they do on cars that have Mac struts at the front. The reason that such braces were invented in the first place is that the strut towers tend to be weak and move around on a lot of cars, and because the top of the Mac strut is a key suspension mounting point, any such movement changes the wheel alignment and suspension angles. But Skylines do not have Mac struts at the front. The upper suspension mounting points are much lower down the suspension tower, closer to the chassis rails, and so the wheel alignment and suspension angles do nut undergo so much change when the chassis twists.

As I said, they do stiff the chassis up a bit. Ideally a strut brace also connects to the firewall, but this simply can't happen easily on a Skyline.

Yeah a strut brace does still make a noticeable difference on a Skyline but not as much as strut based cars. I felt the difference. You can also get a front underbody brace to stiffen up between the radius rod mounts.

Nismo used to make a 3 point brace that has point for the firewall.

Im going to grab one eventuall if a decent well priced one pops up, not fuessed either way tbh
