To Sell The Line Or Not?

Recommended Posts

Guest INASNT

I am considering selling my line and getting some like a later 90's M3 or similiar!!

Pending a county court appeal next month looks like i will be going down for atleast 6 months loss of license for the shit that happened last year with the coppers.

I couldnt be farked anymore with all the shit we have to go through having a jap car the the vic cops. If i had a normal car i would not even be going to court over the shit that happened last year i dont think.

If anyone want to make me a reasonable offer on the car do so and i will consider it. For those that dont know the details of the car, nothing is stock apart from engine internals and intake plenum.

I gotta run it at calder or heathcoat soon to get a bit of use out of it before i sell it as it hardly gets driven these days!!

Ooooh Man! I'm going through the same problem. But not coz of the cops, because I just found out SEV plates are ready for the R34GTR. After all the spondooleees I've spent on the GTR. Either way we'll see if the right money comes along I'll take it, & if you're having the same issues I'd suggest you do the same.

It will be a mid 90's M3 if i get a M3 coz i dont wanna spend 2 much at the moment, or maybe something like a 325.. The plan was to keep this car till i get my house and then sell for a R33 GTR and get that on the house loan but thing have changed and vic is a ***ed place at the moment. I aint really up to speed with my BMW's, so i will have to do some research.

I aint been reamed yet.

1st judge told me he would of let me off with a warning since i have never done any other stupid shit in 11 years of driving. Its all got to do with the new legislation that bracks's needle dick government has come in with recently, where it states if u were doing x amount over the speed limit u would loose your license for x amount of time, so the judge has no discression to rule even if u sped coz ur wife was dying and u had to get to the hospital and in 100 years u have never broken 1 law!!!

In any other state i would get off easy, coz apprently in vic speed kills everyone and everytime :)!!!

FU*K U STEVE BRACKS!!!!

Just remembered.. if your looking for an older M3 stay away from the SMG 1 model. Big dramas I heard, just confiem it for yourself though. I kew a guy who had the SMG 1 and had major problems with the box. The newer shape has the SMG2 which is fine.

how reliable are these mesh

Just got off the phone with a mate, who had the 2003M3 SMG2.. He's making some calls for ya through some guys we know at BMW Melbourne & Some Wholesalers.. but here's what he said.

1. Definatley stay away from the SMG's in the E36 Range.

2. If you can afford it go for the 3.2ltr M3

Dunno how much you want to spend but I'll PM you when he gets back to me.

the beemers have a pretty good engine, and they seem to respond well to mods :P

if u get a decent price for the line and ur happy with it, go for it

ive been thinking the same thing aswell but to go r33 gtr. nsw is so much more lenient so i might notfor another 6 - 12 months

sad to see denham seeing as you jsut finished it but at least you did it.

I'm going to get a soft car for missus but keep my car. I knwo what you mean re the cops . people laugh at me for going slow but I cbf going through all the hassle of getting fined and shit.

good luck with whatever you chosse.

might be worth getting rid of the car grab a house then look for another car.

whatever you choose good luck you have had you line for ages.

also look at the small mercs

Yes i have had my line near 4 years now, but it will be atleast another month before anything goes throughso a bit of time to have fun with the line still. Farking work is keeping me away from home awell for the next few weeks so i cant drive the line or go to any off steet meets

Me personally, I would take a gtr over an M3 anyday, and that includes the latest model M3. Suppose evreyone's got their requirements, and if want affordable luxury, "a little" bit of go, something that handles well "the current model is a bit of a rough ride", and sounds like tin box full of steel rice bubbles when you boot it :P, then maybe it's the car for you. Have you driven one yet? I think my mate still has his number plates if you want them "believe it or not - we hung it on him for sticking it on his car" the plates are HOTM.3

E36 and E46 is the model numbers, like year

E36 M3 94-99

E46 M3 2000-current

M3's are a nice car, i love the E46... i was looking at a E36 M3 while looking at GTR's... i figured since i'm still young i should go for the loud non practical car - GTR and i love it ;)

I figure once i've grown up, and after i've had my 34GTR the M3/M5 will be on my list :P

    • H2 (for cars) will never happen. It's not reasonable for any number of reasons. It's also not reasonable for almost all of the industrial uses that the fanbois say that it will be used for, again for a large number of reasons. There are some cases where it will be good. But, even those will be massively hampered by the economics. The only way that H2 can be economic is if we somehow manage to get from where we are to the other side of the economic-valley-of-death in which no-one can operate. You need there to be sufficient renewable generated electricity to be available so that it is effectively free. Once you are there, you can do whatever the hell you want and hang the efficiency. But until you get there, the ever diminishing value of electricity makes it harder and harder to encourage businesses to build the new generation capacity, and they will simply stop investing in generation projects. (I kinda think there needs to be just government money spent on building the required capacity in a non-commercial way, similar to how the first fossil fueled grids were built, as national-government owned utilities. And probably some nuclear in there to start. But this all should have started 10-15 years ago to avoid the chasm of death that we face right now). Synth fuels will be much more likely, but will only occur is there is at least some renewable H2 production, because you need H2 to do it. And you need stacks of free (or at least extraordinarily cheap) energy because assembling molecules back into fuels is exactly the opposite process to burning the fuel, and the reason we burn fuels is because there is so much energy squeezed into each molecule. So you're somewhat subject to the same economic valley of death problem as above anyway. That is unless people are willing to pay the current equivalent of $5 or $6 per litre of petrol-ish liquid fuels. Can you imagine it? The squealing at $2 now is bad enough.
    • This is so cool. Get a dashcam that records audio and hopefully you'll catch it.  Maybe there's a brand or some kind of markings on the back ? Are the pics hand drawn? I love it so much.
    • Hahaha yep, point(s) taken. I just like seeing different things and an EV in an R32 is pretty different. I'm not on the EV band wagon, I'm waiting for synthetic fuels or hydrogen personally.
    • I mean it's probably likely that people overestimate their skills in dialling in a setup and noticing the changes. I had SK shocks and springs, and added heavier springs and got them revalved by Sydney Shocks to suit based upon what I told them I wanted the car to handle like. I got back a completely different feeling set of shocks, which probably (?) feel great on track but holy hell are they rough on tram tracks and the like. The shock dyno actually looks pretty similar to Shockworks (from what I can surmise from a screenshot of a youtube video - and my dyno printout...) Truth be told I doubt I'd be any faster or slower with either setup, or camber/castor combination. I also had whiteline eccentric castor bushes up front of my R34. I removed them and put in poly non-adjustable ones to soothe my OCD (nobody ever set the castor the same side to side, and it'd be near impossible to do) and be happy the wheel is centered in the well now for clearance reasons. Yes I wanted it to move 1mm 'back' :p I've effectively set my castor back to stock, negating all the benefits of that which is supposedly massive. I've probably also altered toe and camber in a negative (detrimental) way. I can't tell any difference steering the car.
