Hey guys welcome to my car's build diary i will be updating this thread with the progress of my beloved GT-R. Having previously owned a VL Turbo, VS Clubsport, Z32 TT 300ZX and a 2-door WRX STi it was time for me to get back into the car scene after 5 year absence. I started looking at JZA80 Supra's and FD RX-7's.. During my search i didnt look at getting a Skyline as i wasnt a fan of the Sykline or GT-R because i was vivid and hardcore GC8 STi fan boy lawl.

At the time my friend had a 300kw R32 GT-R (HKS GTS-S) he came past to pick me up after he had registered the car in Victoria. I was quiet impressed with its performance but it still failed to convince me and sway me from my STi fan-boism. After a huge drunken party i slept over his house and in the morning i needed a car to get home so he thew the keys and told me i could take his GT-R home and back to his. This is when i was coverted, snapped out of my fan-boism or what ever you want to call it. After i drove that car i KNEW i had to get a GT-R specially a R32. I was lucky enough to jump into 32/33/34 GT-R before i purchased my car and out of the 3 the R32 GT-R felt the best and gave me the most excitement plus IMO its the best looker out of the 3.

So 1 year of hard work and searching for the right GT-R a certain R32 GT-R caught my eye especially the interiror, i was so impressed that i immediately called up Shane and arranged a day for me to fly down to Adelaide. I ended up buying the car and driving it back to Victoria.. and i gotta say it was one of the best drives ive ever had! The car is modified to nearly exactly the way i want, Shane concentrated on all of the aspect of the car and not just straight line performance.

Under my ownership the car will be pushed to its max with its current -5 set up. Then i will be going down the single turbo route, cant wait for it!

Looks awesome. I've got a V-Spec that seems to have had the Nismo front bar and bottom lip specified by the original Japanese owner. What I think I'll do is to put an original hood lip and lower boot spoiler on like yours though. I think that they look tough as.

Is the rear bar a standard factory item or was it a Nismo spec item? The bottom of it seems to be lower than mine.

Where did you get your floor mats?

Did you get the seats re-upholstered or did they come like that when you bought the car?

Nice car mate, i too have been converted from a GC8 STI to the skyline side of things :P

Not to sound like a noob or anything but what do you mean by -5s?

Cheers mate. I really liked my 2-door STi but the GT-R is great. No complaints here lol.

-5's are a turbo made by Garret which are very popular amongst GT-R owners.

Cheers Mate,

The boot lip is called the "N1 Boot-Lip" so when you go looking for one type that up in your search.

The rear bar is standard. The only Nismo parts on the body are:

-N1 front bar snorkels

-N1 side pods

-N1 bonnet lip

-N1 boot lip

I got the floor mats from Ebay. Do not let that deter you.. the quality of the floor mats is VERY high! The seats were done by the previous owner. It was of the main reasons why i purchased the car i told the previous owner the same thing lol.

Epic..

Definitely.

I liked the car already when it was featured on performance imports. You're improving on a great starting point.

Cheers mate, ive always wanted a single turbo GT-R.. but needed a good base to start off with. Found this from Shane and now its time to strap on the T51R, cant wait!

Been a few changes in the build. After the heads get ported every component in the head will be Ferrea. I have ditched the HKS cams for custom made billet 280 IN/EX 11.50 lift cams + HKS Cam gears.

Engine getting prepped for removal.

It has begun.

    • I'm with GTS, that's not an actual overheat issue. That's an electrical issue.
    • So, it's clearly an electrical problem. Either with the gauge itself, or the sender. It appears to be voltage sensitive (ie, alternator output affects the reading.
    • Yes, at this stage of SAU threads, I  automatically assume that anyone here knows that everything depends on each and every setup and its choice of parts and what an individual wants from the setup. I think your misunderstanding what I've said, I'm not saying your curve will move to the right.. I'm stating the opposite; that my setup has a much larger turbo than my last one, my current exhaust manifold runners are 2-3x longer than the last one, the intercooler is longer and thicker (hks 103mm thick), the itbs are now oversized from 45mm up to 49mm, and the plenum is now a larger Nismo plenum that's been port matched. As a result, I'm making more power, torque and boost 1000rpm earlier than my last setup. My curve moved left, in a big way. You guys with 800-1000+hp turbos should be considering hks v-cam or the other Japanese company Sakura who makes RB25 Neo vct adaptor kits for RB26's. they all make more power / boost / torque far earlier and higher peak numbers. Dahtone Racing modifies the Hks v-cam systems to his own specs and he also developed the worlds first and best dbw individual throttle body kits, to complement his V-cam. Every single car is 800-1200+hp and they all produce huge gains in response and peak power.
    • I have a 2008 Skyline 370gt with about 160,000 km on the clock currently. A while ago, I noticed the temp gauge would start climbing but it comes down when I give it some throttle. I took it into the shops. The technicians comments are transcripted below. Reported they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle mechanically and they pressure tested the cooling system. Funnily enough, the technician commented that the temperature dropped back down when the car is stationary but this is when I'd notice the temp gauge to be climbing. Just wondering if anyone else experienced anything similar to enlighten me? Cos at the onset, the temps were going up one tick and then comes back down when I step on it. Now, the temps are climbing all the way to the top of the gauge, and it's making me very nervous lol. It also doesn't come down to the neutral position anymore. PS I do have a small exhaust leak near the drivers side caused by when I got f**ked by a really steep driveway at a mall I never visited before. Not sure if this would affect the sensor. Technician comments: Check and verify Fan/Cooling system - ALL OK max 106*C and fans operating at 100% Cools down right away. Checked Fan Operation - 55%@101*C, 85% @ 104*C and 100% @ 105*C Vehicle did not exceed these temperatures with max load. Temperature recovered back to 99*C after fan operation while vehicle Stationary.
    • It really depends on your setup. Mine is 'accidently' more suited to revving higher. bigger cams, turbo etc. Plus my super long first takes donkey years to come onto boost, so if it will move my power band to the right, maybe i'll pass on this. i have a G45-1500 going on there soon which I suspect might make it more of a fat pig.
