It looks like in the picture with the gcg tag that the copper washer is over to one side of the fitting. It looks like it is too big for the fitting

Ok i pulled the turbo off today and discovered that the oil was leaking from the oil line connection on the turbo! So glad its not some turbo seals or anything bad.

I pulled the braided line off (Earls) and noticed there is no copper washer or anything to stop the oil coming out, but when tightening it only goes half way, so even if i put a copper washer in, its not going to do anything because it seems the thread ends early inside the turbo but the oil fitting is long, i tried tightening and its only half way with lots of torque. Is this the wrong line or am i missing something. (see pics)

Also found the turbine shaft has slight chips on the edges maybe lots of dust inside the pipe. Its pretty minor would it make any difference to the performance of the turboy ?

Also any tips of putting the studs into the manifold, i had an exhaust shop do it last time and they kind of screwed it up, the studs are all loose when i undid the bolts, and when you tighten them, then tighten the turbo up again the stud starts unscrewing! Should i put them in and then use red loctite in the studs or is there a certain trick to get them to stay in permanently.

That looks like the exact fittings I got with my turbo kit which I bought from Kudo's (however they sourced it from CGC as it has their badge thing on it)

I didn't like the way they looked and ended up buying another oil and water line kit which uses normal banjo bolts with copper washers which I prefer.

well its an inverted flare fitting.. theres a flare inside the turbo in which the fitting seals on. the threaded section doesnt go all the way in. So if you have done it up tight and it still leaks then the flare must be damaged or cracked. have a close look at it the flare is the seal, not the thread

Thanks for the advice are the inverted flare fittings known to be good ? Maybe ill apply 100nm torques.

Anyone ideas with the manifold stud holes ? The exhaust shop told me they would clean up the thread but it looks like it hasnt been touched, i may take it those "engineer" type guys and get them to fix the thread if its possible.

Yes thankyou, problem was that everytime i tightened the nut once turbo is in, tightening would cause the stud to come out. I dont think studs liked me because i tried putting on two nuts tight together then tightening, but both nuts would turn at the same time ! I then gave up and shoved a new bolt into the stud hole creating some new thread holes then chopped off the head, but it still became wobbly so i took it an engineer who said my stud hole is farked.

The exhaust shop i taken it to before had used oxy torch for some reason to heat it up (massive blue) and chunks off the face missing..

Pending replacement exhaust manifold.
