might i pop in and say that Troy actually has said many positive things, as a noob in general here, whenever i post a thread Troy has usually been the one to provide answers, and i do secretly hope that he sees all my threads whenever i post them.

but Johnny also I do appreciate the mates who help out with car stuff, we all need friends like this!

but...let's just stop the arguing can we?

alarm install is up to the owner - we all know this.

DIY or pro, just get a good job.

end of story.

fark, leave a thread for a few days and I miss this..

I think it's better that you did.

I subscribed to this thread with the intention of better educating people who may have had the wrong idea about what a good installation is all about. Instead, all I'm seeing is a lot of childish bickering and for that reason alone, I think it's better I stop following this topic and let the children look after their own messes.

of course man, auto sparkies just put us down so we can take it to them so they can make money... It's not rocket science.

not going to start and argument here but I think this post sparked the fight.

If you are capable of doing better than the 'sparky' you are downing in the above post - go see the office of fair trading - register an ABN and go for it.

in some cases it IS rocket science especially if you are doing this:

-------

now I am not sure of your age but I think you need to realize there are people that are smarter than you (and me for that matter) that can teach you a few things if you are prepared to listen.

it is fine to sit on a forum and say I can do better - fine , do so. :)

I do realise there are smart people than me, I never said I knew everything. I learn from others and adapt my own methods if you know what I mean?

For example, people prefer cut, shut wires then use electrical tape. I prefer to cut, shut and use heatshrinks, then wrap it within the stock OEM conduit/split loom (as you guys call it). Also another example is, most Auto shops will install an alarm and either wedge the box somewhere or just cable tie it up. I prefer to mount it properly with screws so it doesn't rattle.

And for those who know me, I just don't sit on the forum all day and say I can do this and that.. I actually do it :)

and yes the above roof down and up thing is quite cool.. I imagine you would adapt a similar method to a window lift kit, which I have seen used on a sunroof on a SSS a friend of mine used to own (I didn't hook it, but just had to look at it because I was curious)

nope :)

custom electronics in the mix with that one. no generic roll up modules at all. full automation.

point still being - stop arguing with people and listen :)

I do listen, if people are nice about it and not being condescending if you know what I mean

Wow step away for a min and it got busy lol

Mate I would be happy to see some kickass jobs from DIY ? Anyone as long as its safe

My critical response was a bit OTT because a bunch of people know I dont sugar coat a response but tell it like I see it

Anyone can ask a question anytime and not be flogged or put down ? Nobody knows it all!!!

Life would be boring if you did ?

so I'm sorry

if my responses were blunt but you get sick of shit stirring users when your trying to be helpful without bias ?

Best wishes on your installs all DIY

Always here to help

Children? At my age I can't help but to take that as a compliment hahaha. Thanks Tony  Those years are gone now.......lol

I having nothing more to add to this thread except for this: Don't judge all pros as 1 and put us in the same category, judge us individually by the work we do and have done in the past. Every week I get at least one customer who asks me the question "have you ever done one of these cars before?". Which tells me they are worried about my expertise and their car. Standing over my shoulder and watching everything I do and by the end of the installation they throw in a 6 pack of beer and are asking me for a bunch of business cards to pass on to their mates.

I'm done on this and just want to get back to actually helping out with car alarm issues and anything related.

Cheers to all DIY's! and Cheers to all Pro Installers!

I'll take pics once I redo my existing alarm for you guys to have a look at it how I like to do it. At the moment just so busy with other things so don't have a chance to redo it

To be honest i don't know what's going on with my remote control system? I would like to tear it out and have a nice new system in place, my lights don't even flash when i lock or un-lock, but the one page wiring diagram/manual i have for the system says it should!

So i can go ahead and fix this, but what's the point...? I'd be tearing it out in the near future to install something with an alarm, maybe remote start and some other cool features.

I also appreciate the offer Johhny, will keep it in mind.

Daniel, so you do not sell alarm systems but run a mobile service to install them in Sydney?

I do not sell alarm systems on their own, I'm not an ebay store, nor do have a shopping cart system on my website. I sell them and supply the mobile service in install them. All the products I sell, I know have been installed correctly this way and I can therefore give the maximum warranty on the products and the installation. I just replaced an alarm 2 days ago that a customer bought from ebay and tried to fit themselves. The alarm was fried and the car was sitting around for 3 weeks before they called me to come out and rectify the problem. It cost the customer more money in the long run, when all they wanted was to save money.

Assuming you are reffering to me, I'm in Sydney western suburbs.

I am based in the western suburbs, but if you call me I can give you an insight as to the problem, what is causing it, how to fix it and the costs involved to fix it (both DIY and Pro costs). My phone is always on for free technical support, if I don't answer leave a message and I will call back. Just don't call me at extreme or ridiculous hours like 4am in the morning.

No worries, thanks Daniel. Can you please PM me the products you could install into my R33? That way i can read a bit about them and if they suit me i'll get you to come and install it for me. If you need more information from me to provide me with a short list of possible systems, let me know.

Thanks mate.

A bit off topic and just for the record.

I had Daniel r34 install alarms and trackers on both my cars recently and he was brilliant going the extra mile and working to 9.00pm on the day as we had some technical issues on one of the cars as he had never installed a tracker or alarm to this particular model.

The guy know his stuff and is very passionate about what he does.

He has been a great help with any questions that I have had since the install and was always willing to spend the time on the phone with me explaining issues. I have had some coding message issues with one of the trackers and Daniel has been calling and emailing me with possible solutions trying to solve the problem.I never expected this kind of service and i am glad I used him for my install.

I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to get aftermarket security on their car.

Ps He did mention to me personally that I could call him anytime as long as its not 4am in the morning so 3.30 am is the latest lol

hi all,

am new to the car/mod scene in aust..so just wanna ask... does your insurance premium vary with the type of alarm you have and/or whether who installed it?

also.. am not familar with this mongoose alarm.. been using Viper for the longest time and I love... so would the Viper 3303V be sufficient? :)

cheerios
