Poor fella must be devastated, hes lucky he didnt get hurt more from the bar falling on him.

He must have some sort of underlying bone issue. Especially when you consider that he lifts 4 times or more a week and should have really good bone density due to the stress of lifting stimulating appositional bone growth an remodeling.

sooo I have suspected disk prolapse between L4 and L5... spine is a long way out, I lean to my left which is probably what has caused it... my lumbar is also very compressed, along with some other more minor issues in my mid back and neck

I have 4 weeks of treatments twice a week... Chiro pretty confident he can fix me up in that time and reckons I'll come back much stronger... thinks I've been leaving a lot of strength on the table being as misaligned as I am... I didn't ask if I'll make Nats, I guess we'll wait and see

Happy to train through knee, shoulder, elbow pain etc but don't want to stuff around with my back... will be doing what he says (he's a fellow powerlifter)

have the all clear to keep benching/pressing... just no overhead work

He won't adjust you without a full spinal xray... They are in Rosebud and will refer you to an xray place down there but I'm sure you could get them done anywhere

Went and saw him first but I guess you could have some xrays done first

Did he say if the heavy lifting might have contributed to it?

Did he tell you to stop the heavy lifting or go easy for a while?

I hurt it while deadlifting, no doubt about it... only because I was lifting whilst badly out of alignment... I'm sure I would not have had any issues had I been seeing someone to have maintenance work done instead of waiting til I hurt myself

I pulled 200kg x 5 for 3 sets... then deficit deadlifted 180kg x 8 and 160kg x 13 (to failure)... I'm pretty sure I did it in that last set... I was fatigued and let my form go, plus I was lifting from a deficit and it's already hard for me to get down to the bar and setup correctly... I was then very stiff in that area for the next week but kept lifting anyway... on my next DL session I warmed up a lot because of the stiffness but everything felt heavy... my top sets were supposed to be 215kg x 3 x 3... I pulled the first set and only barely managed it... felt like I strained something and immediately it started to hurt

he said no deads or squats for the time being... no overhead lifting or anything that compresses my spine... I'll get the treatment and as soon as he clears me I'll get back to it... I'm already seeing improved movement every day and I've always healed quickly so fingers crossed

Yeah hope it gets sorted soon.

I guess the qn to ask is are you still keen on lifting big weights now this has happened to you?

After I hurt myself, and nowhere near anything like you did, I qn whether there is any need to lift heavy. You compete but I don't.

I probably shouldn't have these thoughts in this thread................. Lol

it sounds a lot worse than it is... I'm really not in that much pain, just uncomfortable bending over and sitting for long periods

I can't wait to lift heavy again... I don't feel right not having squatted for nearly two weeks lol

However I won't be lifting heavy unless everything feels right in that area and I get the all clear from the Chiro... I won't ignore it again

I had this week off except for a short bench session but I'll be back into 4-5 sessions a week next week... lot's of bench pressing, supported rows, pull ups, dips etc

TTT: thanks mate... I'll be pretty gutted if I miss Nats... never thought I'd ever do a bench only comp lol! But if I'm not healthy then I'll live to lift another day... I'm sure there will be some other comp I can do later in the year

will be a pity because I hadn't missed a rep in training and was programmed for a 610kg total... think I could nudge 620kg fully healthy too

shit happens, people have come back stronger from a lot worse injuries

Jason Mawby looks after our entire team, he has totalled 600kg@100kg, his wife also competes.

He fixed up Nina and Max, they still get alignments every fortnight, I think he has around 30 clients from PTC

Emad is out of hospital. What was supposed to be a 1hr op lasted 3. His bones are like concrete, they struggled to drill through them

Dr Bruce Reid and Dr Peter Larkins believe there was a stress fracture there that the MRI didnt pick up

He has a titanium rod running through his humerus now. He was in the gym today.

Nick, you'll be fine if you listen to Jason, we work together, we have a 100% success rate. Max started squatting an empty bar after Jason realigned him, he is about to squat 250kg x 4.

You wont recognise the place when you walk in lol

    • Right, its been a while for updating this car, but I made some small but important progress today. In the end I bought an Ecutek dongle from the Australian distributor Tunehouse (for local hardware support) but have gone with a remote tune from Racebox in the US (because they have done millions of these, and I could not find any tuner where I could access the tune anyway as they are all password locked). The App is reasonably easy to work with, but the PC software reminds me of Haltech's ECU Manager that you need to use with the Plat Pro ECUs, it is a nightmare.  Anyway, I sent the details over, got back a tune file and a request for data logs. I finally got a chance to access a private test track today as they want redline logs in 3rd and 4th, and have sent them back for the first round of reviews. The main difference in the tune is going from 1.0 (stock) to 1.3 bar (19psi), although I'm sure is a lot of other stuff in the background. Keeping in mind this is a dead stock car with 125,000klm, this is what the App's performance test claimed: Before After Interesting to note that both 400m tests had the same terminal speed (158klm/h) but different ETs. And no, the speed limiter seems to be higher than that at 186kl/h. Summary of the key logged parameters for the 3rd and 4th gear runs were: Those little turbos were certainly whizzing at 200,000rpm+.  Also I'm really not that excited about oil pressure 55psi at redline so I think I'll go thicker than 5w30 (nissan recommend 0w20....) and see if that improves it. Other than that (and the big boost spike....) everything looks good as a start to me.
    • Just one more post to show the final result and the original "janky" solution for a laugh. Everything feels really tight and no wobbling at all, very pleased 🙂

    • The hot exhaust light will come on not from just the cat being blocked, but it's just a temp sensor, and it's designed to warn you to not do things like park in long grass.   If you've been pushing the motor a bit, it can cause the light to come on.   Second if the cat is rattling, I'd suspect it's not blocked, but instead falling apart inside.   The easiest "fix" until you can get a cat put back in, is to unbolt your one, bash the rest of the insides out, and then bolt it back in.   For a daily driver/street car, I am in agreeance of put a cat in the car. If it were race car I wouldn't care if it were removed.
