Head Recondition

Hey guys looking for somewhere to get my cylinder head rebuild and was wondering if anyone has experienced someone good or have heard of someone good cheap?

how "rebuilt" is rebuilt?

Phillip head services are currently machining my sr20 head. Found them to be really helpful and reasonably priced.

Service or fully reconditioned or port/polish or ....

I think I want a full reco like new valve guides, valve stem seals, shave and adjusting the clearance on the shims

What is port and polish?

you are looking at $1000+ for that without touching the ports, you have no shims, RB25s have hydraulic lifters

I just need to redo the valve guides and valve stem seals the rest is ok I just thought I should get it all done while its off

You are looking at around 400 for new guides, stem seals will be about 100 bucks, facing the head will be 50-100 + labour to disasemble, clean and re-assemble (as a guess 100p/h + new gaskets (VRS kit is about 300 from memory) + new head bolts

it gets expensive quick

Maybe just buy a 2nd hand head that's in good condition?

So my neighbour is moving to Newcastle and he gave me a rb25det motor with a worked head with recipes so I'm going to take that off and get it cleaned and looked over and slap that baby on it

Kasko scored a rb30 bottom end as well
