hey Guys

So i need to get a pink slip for my car. Went to a places , they refuse to touch it because its to low...and i dont have time to go to pedders to put the height up....

anyone able to organise a pink slip PM me

disclaimer: I am in no way doing anything illegal , the lowest point of my car sits at 102mm from the ground fully loaded. It just looks low because the guards scrub the tyres when turning.....

If the tyres scrub the guards when turning; they're probably right to refuse you a pink slip.

Because, y'know; it's like illegal.

And dangerous,

to update :

current faults :

exposed but secured pod filter

slight oil leak from valve covers(doesnt drip on floor)

car scrapes when turning and going over bump at same time ( to low)

also id like to add a little rant : its so difficult for me to get a pink slip because

a) mechanic who did my 100k service(paden @ Unique Automotive) is on holiday until 28th Sep 2012

b) everyone i seem to go to wants to find something wrong , from a oil on the valve covers to the inside of my front tyres being very slightly worn out(still legal min tread). It seems like all they want is to con me into doing more work with them so they pick on every little thing and refuse to give me a pink slip!

c) cant travel far too get it because this means il be driving my car unregistered which i dont want to do ($1006 fine and 4 points lost)

so if anyone knows anyone in the hurstville/bexley area in Sydney that does Pink slips easily/fairly pm me!

Ok, a little tip for beginners; ALWAYS degrease your engine bay before you take the car for a pink slip. Mechanics hate oil leaks.

You say they want to find something wrong; maybe you need to make a tiny effort to make it a bit harder to find something wrong.

I always make sure my car is nice & clean and well presented; it shows you give a stuff, and this can go a long way towards the mechanic not giving you the "fine tooth comb" treatment.

If you have a dirty car with visible oil leaks that you haven't bothered to sort; what else haven't you bothered about? That is what the mechanic thinks.

If you get pulled over and the police see you have an easily visible long term oil leak, yet you have a fresh pink slip; the police will report the mechanic to the RMS.

This could result in him getting a warning or even losing the ability to do inspections completely.

Why would he risk losing an integral part of his ability to make money, because you're too lazy to spend 10 mins with a $2 can of degreaser and a garden hose?

Up until a couple of years ago, I had a modified 25 year old car with over 500,000kms on it. No oil leaks and it passed a pink slip inspection every year; simply because I maintained it.

What's your excuse?

this is a great tip...however......

my car is in excellent shape. Ive recently spent ALOT of money doing the 100k service and then more with a reputable mechanic, made sure I had everything checked out , all fluids from diff to trans fluid flushed and filled and all ancillary belts/timing belt changed. Also new rotors + pads all round. So doing all this and then being told that my car wasn't even roadworthy pissed me off and made it more apparent that most mechanics are just out to make a buck...on whatever they can

Also had him wash the engine bay , this was done about 2000km ago.

Since then there has been a tiny leak of oil due to (im sure) valve cover gaskets...not even enough to make it to the ground.

Thats it,

My car other then that is immaculate and spotless both inside and out , it is my pride and joy and I certainly treat it that way.

I never knew I had to reclean my engine so that its spotless so I wouldnt fail...it is an important point to keep in mind ,IMO its nothing serious enough to fail someone for. then again my opinion isn't the one that matters.

Anyway got pink slip , wasn't dodgy , guy just asked me to say that I lowered the car AFTER I had brought it in. Everything else was within acceptable limits and he was surprised about how every little thing still functions and could tell that it was "well taken care off for a 15 year old car...."

Thanks for the help guys

Hey mate,

I've had a little trouble with my pinky.

My exposed pods which are very much secured have been the pressing issue. She's my baby, only comes out to play here n there. She's spotless.

I bought my 32 gtr from qld, now they are becoming a problem. As in qld there legal. And there's no reason why they shouldn't be really. Nsw kronies

I'm from Sydney, moorebank area.

But I've travel for a pinky.

I wanted to know the mechanic you sauced your pinky from.

Cheers Ben
