was having a look at Yahoo Auctions JP and found that they are selling these things for m35's (dunno if the software you have to download for it is in english??).

Wouldnt it be nice to piss off the factory screen if you could. Find a nice touch screen one to fit in its place and aswell as keep all the funtionality of your factory unit eg, fault codes, fuel economy, NAVI and multimedia etc.....

I wonder how hard it would be to buy a cheap android TAB and butcher it to fit the rails of the old screen and run direct power through the car to turn it on and off with your ignition. Maybe add a nice sized USB hub (for extra connectivity) and hard drive bay in the glove box where that poxey useless NAVI DVD player is.

shattered looks like the software "carscope" is only in japanese.

No, the software is in English. It does have some Jap stuff but its usable, and kinda nice. You can download it to an android device and play with it on demo mode..

I think this was mentioned in another thread...bigkevracer brought it up.

The only downer is that it won't provide MAP reading...

I do like that you can keep track of driving habits/data logging and have it automatically upload said information to your Gmail account each day.

Clint, if you are looking at getting one (most of it is in English, try the software out for yourself - it is free), go through Jesse Streeter or "prince_skyline" (Jase).

A bit cheaper than Yahoo.

There's plenty of cheap Chinese made 7" Tablets for around $100 - $150. Jump on Ozbargains and search for "Ainol"

What OS to run? The Carscape software only runs on Android...I don't think you have any choices there? Are you a dev?

Hi

Sorry for the thread revival

I bought an M35 with exactly the setup you talk about

HKS OB LINK with an android tablet in the factory TV Screen location.

It was working until i decided to update the HKS OB LINK software through the google play store- since then I cannot pair to my HKS OB LINK. The reason I did the update in the first place was to attempt to fix an intermittant connection time out problem - OB LINK would disconnect every 15 mins or so...and i would have to reconnect, losing my logged data (fuel consumption etc)

Does anyone have an experience with this ? I tried to google OB LINK Issues after software update but to no avail.

cheers

Yeah pretty sure i did!!

After I updated the HKS App through google play store -I went through the app options and found the option to Pair a new Device

It said the current paired device was

"OB LINK

00:A0:96:38:0B:3F" (i assume blue tooth uses mac address and this is it)

So I recorded this mac? and hit pair new device

It comes up with the following message :

"SCAN OB-LINK device and pair it. Enter Pass key [7181]"

SO I re-entered the mac and it asked for the pass key (7181) and then said Paired.

Still no connection to the Meter views = OB LINK DISCONNECTED

so far ive found sometimes something gets confused every now and then and if i turn my deck off (uses bluetooth too) itll sort my connection problem out...i think it wants to hook to the ob link first

other then that im happy with it.i got mine from greenline when it was on special so it was a little over a 100 delivered which i thought was a good price
