Hi all looking for some insight into the emblems for my 370gt. Was wondering if the US G37 Infiniti Emblem should be compatible with the JDM 370GT front grille? Was told they would fit but once i got it, there has been a lot of resistance just to place the emblem in place, but it would not clip in at all. Has anyone else had any luck? maybe im doing it wrong? the Original Nissan emblem fits perfect, no resistance and just pops into place. It fills like to me that they are not interchangeable.

Any input is appreciated, especially with photos!

Thanks

They are not interchangeable - the Nissan and Inifniti badges are different sizes. Even on V35s you have to buy a different front grille in order to fit the G35 badging.

Are you sure about that? Because i placed an order for this:

Was under the impression that they should fit on our V35 given from what i was told.

^^^ so seriously, the OP has said he fell for some idiot telling him that an Infiniti badge will direct fit a V35 (like you have), he has it in his hand and sure enough it won't fit, and you want to dispute it?

God damn it, i was told it would fit too.....order was shipped 4 days ago. Too late now i suppose.

If you are handy with a dremel you might make it fit :)

And Seano you CAN'T road register a G35 (unless you are talking the convertible V36 version out of Europe). And when Infiniti start selling cars in Aus shortly you will see lots of people putting Infiniti badging on their V35s ..... once people start considering Infiniti to be a premium brand, people will respect it more. A lot like people putting Lexus badging on their Soarers.

Actually, I just found out from the seller that the one I purchased was not for a G37 Coupe but for a G37 sedan and apparently they have different grilles. So there might still be hope yet, just emailed an infiniti dealer in the states to confirm.

It will as long as you match the body type. That is, be sure to get the coupe badge or the sedan badge. I've got the 2009 370GT coupe and I made sure that the grille emblem I got was the badge for a 2010 G37 coupe, as that's the equivalent model. Mine clipped straight on, no problem. The only thing I needed to do though was to get out the polish and rub away some of the baked in dirt that was trapped behind the Nissan Hamburger, which is a little wider than the Infiniti Mt Fuji.

[Edit]: I should've read the rest of the thread. Seems you've already been told the same reason. :)

For what it's worth, here's the one I bought and it was from the same seller: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-INFINITI-G37-COUPE-2DR-FRONT-GRILLE-EMBLEM-CHROME-/280951353466?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item416a01707a

I'll dispute it, from experience but only on a V36. I don't know about a V35 though given the OP was talking about a 370GT which would make it a V36. :)

    • Hey @Butters, did you end up getting this clutch in ? I have just ordered to a uniclutch track to go in my getrag 6 speed that’s in my BNR 32
    • I know you don't want to hear this comment, but I can't not say it.  I just can't see 200kw being worth the time and effort. Its like guys with NA cars, putting in headers/exhaust/tune for a massive 20% jump in power. Great, the slow car is still slow and you're down $10,000.  My vote is leave it NA or price in a gearbox upgrade and shoot for at least 300KW, preferably 350KW+.  Now you have a NC that will try to kill you from time to time and will be exciting to drive
    • Ah yep. The main message I want to pass on is, try not to get scared of ghosts when thinking about knock/knock detection.  What I mean is, healthy engines make noise. Knock is also noise. Your knock sensor and ECU combo are trying to determine bad noise from good noise based on how loud the noise is. The factory knock sensors and ECU are not good at doing this.  Modern ECU's are pretty decent at it, however I'd still say that you would want to verify that if your ECU says it's knock, that you actually listen to it and confirm that it is correct.  Are you familiar with the plex knock monitor?  https://www.plex-tuning.com/products/plex-knock-monitor-v3/ I expect you're the type of person that would be very keen to play with something like this. It is great knock detection and you can pop some headphones on and listen to what's going on.  Knock that you've deliberately induced in low load low RPM areas is not really putting anything at risk and is a great tuning/learning/verification tool.  I just thought this was worth mentioning based on the way you were talking about setting up a base map and the Haltech base map settings. There are better ways to spend your time then chasing ghosts and worrying about detonation in scenarios that it is crazy unlikely to encounter it.  I was also wondering, what ECU are you planning to get? Will it be long til you pick it up?
    • This came quicker than I thought. It ain't even 2025 yet.
    • I somehow quoted my post instead of editing it. I regret nothing.
