HI All,

As the subject says I had my Power FC tuned.

I want to show you the results of the tune compared to what I previuosly had with stock ECU and fuel pump.

Before (black line):

Full 3" exhaust turbo back

High flow cat

FMIC (medium size)

Bleed valve set to 11 psi

After (Red Line):

Full 3" exhaust turbo back

High flow cat

FMIC (medium size)

Bleed valve set to 13.5 psi

Bosch 040 fuel pump

Power FC

Dyno run attached below:

First impressions was good except I thougt on the Unigroup Eng. dyno I would get at least 200 rwkw's... In actual fact I only got 4 rwkw's more from the tune (and thats running 2.5 psi more).

I understand there was more power to be made in the mid range, but still I thought there would be more made there as well.

Also, I have lost a chunk of power down low. For instance I used to see full boost at 2300 rpm with stock ecu, now I hit full boost a 2900-3000 rpm...

After accelerating (normal diriving or hard driving) the rev's sit up around 1400 rpm at idle for about a minute before dropping down to 900-1000 rpm.

Just wanted to compare with others who have down similar mods and what type of air fuel ratios you had tuned.

Ps I have also included a pic of the commander after a quick squirt.

Best regards

Your power fits your mods man. The tune has cleaned up your maps a fair bit and gotten rid of the standard 5k flat spot.

As for your problems, dunno about losing low down power, cant see any reason for that. Your maps look fine and i probably wouldnt blame tuning unless they've taking timing out down low ?? (Cant see why they would)

And for the idle, you might have a dirty AAC/IAC valves, give them a clean. Also check the RPM point that your getting injection back on deceleration and try lower it slightly. (Cant remember the FC term for it but its on the Rev/Idle menu)

Just had a tune done at Jakes Performance in the ACT after fitting an Apexi Boost Control kit to the Power FC. Originally had the car tuned by a tuner in my home city but he was inexperienced in tuning PFC's and was only able to tune 184rwkw at 1 bar out of it. Jake manged 210 at the wheels at 1 bar. I have a front mount ARE intercooler (medium to largish), 3 inch dump and sytem, Z32 AFM and Apexi Power intake. I will post a copy of the chart as soon as I can get to a scanner or digi cam. AFR's run at a consistent 12 across the range.

I was hoping for 220 but that will do me fine as it is at an unstressed level for the NEO.

Cheers

Muz

Thanks for the replies,

The thing is boost was increased to 13.5 psi.. It looks to me if I lower my boost back to 11 (which I want to) I would end up with less power over all...

I'm thinking of getting an Apexi boost control attached to the power FC, would it be worth it to have the air fuel ratios leaned out to 11.6 - 11.8: 1 at the same time???

Also in the monitor section, There is not data for the air temp. Is this the same with you? it just has ----- accross it.

Rob

Robo, you need a apexi air temp sensor to get a reading, it's an optional extra.
Really ?

I'd love more details of this, if you have them or can point to where I can find out about it it'd be really appreciated.

Robo,

It's normal on the RB25 as the engine doesn't have an intake temp sensor like the RB26 :(

Thanks again for the replies.

Boost is droping off up high.

Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to achieve 200 rwkw's with stock turbo?

Will cam gear, cams etc.. help??

Regards

Rob

Hi Robo, do you have the boost graph? If not, it should be stored in the DD's PC, so Unigroup should be able to print it out for you. The power curve over 5,000 rpm looks more like 12 psi to me.

The lower power at 2,900 rpm smells of ignition timing to me, maybe a bit retarded. Worth checking with the tuner, tell him you can feel it on the road. This can also affect the idle rpm.

As for A/F ratios, they look pretty good, there is little bit to be gained by getting them up to 12 to 1. The downside is risk, a bad batch of fuel, hot day etc.

The average power is up by 10 rwkw, which is around 5 to 10 rwkw less than I would expect. There is maybe up to 5 rwkw in A/F ratios, so the rest has to be in ignition timing or boost. An adj exhaust camshaft puley is worth around 8 rwkw, but I would look at the other stuff first.

Hope that helps, I will look out for further results.

if ya look http://www.silviansw.com/dynodays.php

on the latest day i will try to upload i was pretty suprised at my result also my car was stock as a rock when i bought it all upgrades cooler exhuast etc done by me....

this was the first dyno that i had done in 3yrs and all service done by myself.

stock cooler, stock computer no cam stuff done all standard.

Hey Ron-i5h,

Do you have a copy of your dyno sheet? Can you post it up?

What air fuel ratio did you have when you achieved 200 rwkw's?

Rob

:headspin: that page has me listed with a FMIC

all dynos are different.. a car that read 200rwkw on one dyno can only read 160rwkw or so on another. I'd like to see any car with a stock turbo pull 200rwkw on a dynologics dyno.

And while I'm not saying all dyno tuners are dodgy, but often if you take a car to a dyno tuner it will "magically" gain that 20rwkw soon as it walks the door. They do have to prove they have earned their money somehow afterall.

Don't take the dyno for gospel, its all about how the car feels to drive afterall. Does it "feel" faster? if it does it probably is.

It seems like he should have got a little more out of the powerFC than you had previously, but all cars respond differently to different mods, and I assume some cars respond better to a powerFC than others on the stock turbo. You are also getting that extra meat in the sandwich between 3000->5500rpm - thats some 10 -> 20rwkw across most of there. That should be noticeable?

mmm true on what u say that all dynos are diffrent i understand that but for drastic diffrence of 160kw-200kw give it a break, for real bro???

i understand give and take +-5 i understand

im not a big power freak as you can tell by the mods but also that night there were alot of ppl complainign that the dyno was reading to low...
