Ev's - R32 Gtr - Targa/sprint/hill Climb Build

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am new to this forum as I have only recently acquired my first Skyline ever. Its a 1989 R32 GTR - White in colour. The car was selected for the sole purpose of building a car that I can make my first foray into Motorsport. My racing/driving ambition is to first build the car to Stage 1 specs (details below) and take it to the tracks in Victoria to get acquainted with the car and start learning some driving skills. Plan is to run in a few sprints/hill climbs (Marque Sports Association) and track days. Build up some skills for a year or so. Then finsh the car to Stage 2 (targa/rally goal). So here is the build plan.....

Strip & Cage & Race Prep Cage - CAMS mild steel. Design TBC. Strip Car Strip HICAS Block and Lines Relocate Battery to Boot & fit kill switch Steering Wheel Boss and quick release Fire Extinguisher Suspension & Handling Supply & fit HICAS lock bar Fit sub frame locking bushes R&R rear diff, modify LSD plate config & LSD preload, replace oil Nismo 1.5 way front LSD centre to RPm spec Adjustable front upper arms RPM custom three blade adjustable sway bar Replace right hand tie rod end RPM transfer case mod Wheel Alignment Rays TE37 Wheels 18x10 (powder coated white) Yokohama Tyres 265/35/18 x 4 Braking Front brake kitm lines, pads & ducting Rear discs, pads & lines Flush & bleed lines remove brake backing plates Oil Catch Can RPM custom oil catch can MISC Items Replace misc bolts remove AC remove alarm, boost controller, boost gauge replace blow off valves gear box inspect & repair engine oil, spark plugs, inhibitor coolant redline gearbox oil, diff oil, transfer case oil 2 drive belts clutch fork boot clutch 4 gear box cross member bushes recondition tail shaft and balance & replace center bearing Terratrip (second hand) Sparco Race Seats x 2

Comments and advice welcome....I already have gleaned a few good ideas off these build threads like mounting brackets on the roll cage passenger side for Terratrip.

Heater/aircon box dash getting removed.

Mild steel cage with front dash bar and all the rear cross and floor bracing is going to be installed.

More to follow !

UPDATE to BUILD:

I have the car being stripped by TRACKART in Moorabin (old Meridian factory). You can follow his daily progress on Facebook. See this link as he is posting daily photos of the strip out and then cage installation.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Trackart-Custom-Fabrications-Pty-Ltd/366646096695933?sk=wall

CAGE PREP SCOPE:

The minimum targa spec cage in mild steel and this includes the roof double cross, double main hoop cross and gusseting, and double side intrusion. The extra bars to be considered are the diagonal and horizontal link in the rear of the cage linking the rear sections The dash bar (behind the dash) Rear leg braces (links the rear section to the main hoop along the floor) Strip and re-fit everything inside the car Paint the cage (I may end up doing the full monty here with a two pac job for floor and cae...) Windscreen front and rear R&R Seat Mounting for 2 Sparco Seats Front and Rear Tow Points Bonnet Locking Pins Flush Mount - AERO ones!

Good to see the build thread up.

Did Andrew say you need the secondary "Sainz" bar for the front legs?

I never ended up registering my R32 cage with CAMS so I am not sure if the regs have changed. Would be painful to have to add it in now to register it.

Hi All,

yes the extra bars that connect to the front legs are mandatory now. They also make it impossible to remove the dash once they are in.....I am putting in the dash cross bar as well. Andrew has been great to deal with and a wealth of knowledge which is great for someone like me starting out...

some more update photos on the way!

QUESTION?? Can anyone tell me how to post photos onto this thread without having to upload them into my Album first? Surely there is an easier way than having to upload to your album first?? HELP!!!
