Ev's - R32 Gtr - Targa/sprint/hill Climb Build

Recommended Posts

UPDATE ON BUILD & TRACK TESTING:

Ended up going for a set of AP Racing 356mm rotors up front. Left the stock rear brakes on the car.

Car went to Sandown and managed about 7 laps had oil blow out issues from the breather lines on valve covers. Oil and smoke everywhere..............tow truck back to shop for more works. Ended up putting in a oil catch can. This solved the problem.

Bilstein suspension is no good at them moment. Too low in the front. Bottoms out. Either going to machine extra groove to raise the front or replace with Teins. Job for January at this stage.

Tow truck home from sandown........joy.....

Lake Mountain Tour!

decided to go up to lake mountain against mechanics advise.....Blew first cooling hoses on way to Marysville. Fixable. Then blew another end of day 1. Fixable. Then blew a third cooling hose between engine and firewall on day two,,,,,,,,not fixable.......retire......

Good fun running up the mountain.....

Car is currently getting some grooves machined into the front bilsteins to raise the front end up a little.

Fuel pump rewired to stop it surging which created many issues up the mountain as the tank went to half empty....

Replacing cooling hoses with new ones to stop them bursting....

I have bought a new intercooler hose kit as well. Will do them next month.

DynoGraph-Evan.jpg

and the latest dyno tune chart. So we are ready for the track at Phillip Island on the 31st Jan. And then MSCA sprint at Winton on the 3rd of Feb!

Future Upgrades planned:

I just purchased a RUZIC 4WD Controller. Will install hopefully before track day.

Also purchased a launch control package.

Air box - I am going to make a shroud for the pod filters out of some heat shield panels I have at home.

Rear Strut Brace - whiteline.

Mate that's shattering news!! There's few worse dramas than throwing a leg out of bed...

As Paul said, at least now you can get it all sorted properly (oil control).

Planning an all out build or keep it simple?

I've got a spare forged bottom end if you want a quick repair  .

I am going to do it properly this time. I noticed a guy selling a NISMO FINE SPEC engine on this forum so I have contacted him as I think that will be a great engine for the price.

The other option is to do a RACEPACE full build with a spare block I have. I am waiting on racepace to remove the engine and assess the true damage to the head and turbos etc. I think this will determine which way I go.

Shame mate - I had similar luck on Saturday at PI - first session, first lap, first corner turbo went. Was it today or yesterday you were there?

Yep time to fix that oiling system!

I was at PI on Thursday 31st with John Bowe. Good mornign until disaster....

full monty this time. the car has been out three times and not finsihed each time all due to engine bits and pieces failing.

Ruzic 4wd Controller Added:

Removed center console, gear shifter trimming center dash surround. Trimmed up the center dash area with Dremel to fit controller display.

I wired in the controller at first with Scotch lock splice connectors as shown in this photo..... This was a mistake as when he unit powered up it gave 4wd/abs warning lights all over the dash...

After Getting rid of the splice connectors and hard wiring and solder every connection the problem was solved. All warning lights disappeared and all outputs from the g sensor showing correctly on the ruzic controller.

You can see the toggle switch wired in above the cigarette lighter.

well the result was great. Instantly noticeable difference in the way the power goes down. At PI before the engine snapped I was having serious fun smashing the power on in all sorts of bad positions on the track. The worst that happened was power slide out of corner. Can't wait to get it back to the track and test it properly.
