Matt - that looks pretty friggen amazing man!

23-55.jpg

If interested, the remaining photos from this wedding set can be found on my website @ http://richardgrainger.com.au/story/brisbane-wedding--jason-and-tara/23

Matt, did you do some cloning on the top of the shed above the rear of the car? If not, thats a really wonky shed, lol. I've found that cloning repetative shapes like that can be hard to get right, but if I copy/paste a section and then use the transform tool to match perspective it matches up a lot smoother than cloning. I havent done it a lot tho, so probably beginners luck more than anything, lol. Although, looks like there is a slight pitch in that roofline which further complicates things. Tough gig. Awesome shot tho, so crisp and clear and I dont mind the spot-color in this one as its fairly subtle.

Haven't taken many so far this month, starting to lose interest in photography again. My scooter is more entertaining, people dont like being beaten by a step-thru, haha.

This is always a welcome sight tho...

And a couple from the Mallala matsuri where the people with white lenses were laughing at me walking around with my compact, lol

Checked out the rest of your wedding pics richie. You have improved so much lately. Great work capturing some key moments. Keep it up mate.

Just not sure about the pic you posted here. The pose isnt working for me. Its like he is adjusting his tie and looking away while she shows of her dress in a elegant manner.

My 2 cents though. Or maybe im just looking at it wrong.

That flower shot is very pretty Sidd!

The photo of the bride and groom I posted here would be my favourite from the entire set. It was posed and I did request for them to do what they are doing. It's something which really got me looking at the photo for agggeesss.

What I like is a little unusual though. There is no 'wrong' way at looking at art man! We are all different (of course) and that one wasn't for you that's all... But I'm glad you liked at least some of them man!!! And thanks for the really kind words mate, I appreciate it.

Jay, That's where the rig was. It was a speed edit! trying to see how quick I could get it to how I wanted it. I had a look at what you found and found a couple other little things too :P So lazy. I'd fix them but it will kill the link. Actually, I might fix anyway. it's worth a fixing.

Nice and sharp shots man :) I know how it feels to have dream boats look down at you for gear. They're the people who struggle to put half an idea together though. A couple of the more seasoned dudes who were at wtac had a couple digs at my thrashed, baby d90 and 1990 lenses. Funnily enough 2 of them added me on FB once I started uploading pics after the event. As said above, it's not the tools. You got the skillz to use a shitty old go-pro and turn out some magic.

anyway... a quick shot of Dave's car from the other afternoon

Cheers man. I cant see why they would have a dig at your D90 tho, they are awesome cameras.

Dude, that pic is worth fixing. Hence the CC to fire up some motivation for you to take your time with it. :P The way you frame rig shots is awesome, and the locations you find to do them are unreal. Keep it up, but dont be in a rush to share, they are worth the extra time and effort. I've got laziness covered, haha.

This is my new scooter. Got a bit of glare on the rear disk, but you get that sometimes.

Seem to be my favourites too, need to get back into photography big time, hadn't picked the cam up in about 2 months!

You've got some awesome shots, I need to try this light painting stuff!

i know the feeling. the two (graff) light painting pics i posted in here are the first ive taken in a couple of months too. started up again as someone was trying to copy the style I created so I had to go out and show them how its done, lol. was waiting for the warmer weather cause its hard to do when your freezing your ass off, haha

Haha tell me about it, I do the odd star trail here and there and it's pretty much 30 minutes freezing at stupid o'clock waiting for the exposure to finish!

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
