Guys, I have a set of Gold S15 Tein drift spec, winding master Type HE on my car right now and one of the rear has started to leak.

I also have a spare one of the same winding master Type HE from a previous vehicle but its ECR33 spec

The spring for the R33 is visibly longer and thicker, otherwise everything is identical, but I'm not sure if the valving is the same between the two, and Tein just fitted it with different springs to suit the specific vehicle

It would be great if i could just swap springs and go again!.....What do you guys think?

The valving will be different for the different spring rates.

If you were keen take it into a suspension shop with a shock absorber dyno and get the two shocks dyno'd together to see the difference. You might find that the S15 on full hard dampening is equal to the R33 on 8-clicks dampening or something similar.

is it possible to replace the springs on some Ha Tein coilovers inorder to make the suspension more street friendly and not rock hard, my coilovers even on soft are still hard...

Well, yeah. They take standard sized springs don't they? That's part of the logic behind coilover you know.

The only problem with that concept is that the damping might not be adjustable enough to cope with big changes in spring rate without being dismantled and revalved.

Dropping spring rates by about a kg here and there should be fine for the shock absorber to cope with but as GTSBoy said you don't want to change it too much because those shock absorbers are valved for those specific sopring rates.

I dont know anything about standard springs, but yeah they seem just a bit on the hard side, was thinking they must be possibly a 12kg spring, so if dropping them to a 10kg was possible it would make the ride better, and aid in the launches at the drags although i may opt for some old stock rear suspension for that..

have 18inch wheels is obvioulsy not helping to cushion the bumpy rough roads, guess its a bit of a take the good with the bad, on a mostly smooth road its perfect..

When I said "standard" I meant "standard size and fitment" - for a coilover. As in, across a wide range of manufacturers, they all use 60mm diameter (or whatever it actually is) and the same top and bottom shape so that you just buy springs - you don't have to buy X springs for X brand coilover. You buy whatever rate spring you need.

Plenty of brands do replacement springs in your desired spring rate as well. Eibach, Tein, Swift etc. Most coilover manufactures will also let you specify different spring rates to standard when ordering coilovers so what you may have might be stiffer/softer than what the coilover is speced with generally.
