Whoop-Ass Wednesday Drags, Kwinana Motorplex

Recommended Posts

Good night had by all. It was a great feeling for me just to be able to unleash the monster finally. I had some issues with the car coughing and hesitating at the start of the night - we later learned it was the overboost cut off, and the boost was spiking to over 20psi. So naturally, we bumped up the overboost cut and let it spike with the cold weather to continue running the rest of the night. It was already making 500rwhp@15psi so with 20+psi, no wonder traction was an issue for me!

I believe, apart from Jarrod, everyone's cars went quicker than they expected with Wes breaking in to the 11s for the first time at the plex, I heard Richard managed an 11.2, my SS cracked in to the 12s for the first time, and Abdul put down an amazing 12.6 in his 33GTS-T.

My 34 will be back up on the stands in no time for some more fine tuning with the suspension and brakes in order to hit Barbagallo again in June. Keep an eye on the WASCC tuning day thread for details.
Thanks to all who could make it out.
Look forward to seeing you's at Barbagallo Raceway!

It's been a very long time gang, too long!
I wish I could say I'm taking the refined R34 back down to the strip again but unfortunately that will have to wait a little longer yet.
However, I am interested to see who would be interested in getting their cars out for a thrash and get together for a catch up this Wednesday night 8th Jan.

Would be great to see some skylines stickin' it to a few V8's as we listen to those beautiful jap 6 howls + screams
You know the drill - bring your beast, bring your full length clothing & rated helmets, bring your $55 for racing fees, spectators bring $18 ($33 if you want the front passenger seat in your mates car on the strip), racing starts at 6PM!!!

Hope to see you there!
Bren

Yeah I've been trying to get hold of you for the past week!!!
I assume you are ok and the car is repairable?
Yeah either run the boxer or just come down for a look and catch up ;-)

Not a huge turn out as far as whoop-ass wed competitors but as always, there was some awesome gear down there. It's getting ridiculous how common it is to see 9 and 10 second cars on Wednesday nights now. On the skyline front, there were 2 extremely mean beasts doing consistent 11 second passes. One - a 4 door R32 gts-t and one other - an R33 GT-R (which I think may have even been as ear piercingly loud as my 34 - big congratulations in the sound department haha)
I must apologise for not getting to talk as much with the drivers as I'd hoped, and did not learn their names either.
If the owners are reading this or if anyone was there and knows the owners, feel free to dob them in on here and tell us the full story.

Very nice skylines and very nice driving fellas!
Until next time ;)

Right gang;

Short notice but I'll be heading down the strip this Wednesday night 19th Feb in "MY DAILY"

Is anyone interested in coming down either just to catch up or to call me a traitor and stick it to my VX SS commy? haha

Would love to hear some nice jap 6's if anyone is keen.

You all know the drill by now. If you don't, read the previous comments in this thread.

Look forward to catching up.

Cheers

Bren

Seems not much interest on this topic at present but I figure I'll just keep talking about my Holden until some real men start getting amongst it with their skylines :whistling: haha

So, last night;

Noticed some awesome skylines and jap 6's putting down some wicked times despite nobody talking on here.
A couple of mint 32 GT-R's punching out 11 and 12 second runs from what I saw.
Met 1 lad called Daniel (I think) in one of these nice 32's (post up some goss on your car and your times if you read this).

Highlight of the night had to be a gentleman by the name of Chris in a 900whp R34 GT-R with a 6 speed sequential dog box, running standard street tyres who did only one run where he had much trouble getting off the line, only made it about 3/4 the way down the strip to have mechanical failure (I think it blew a boost hose), he backed off and rolled over the line ... AND STILL PUT DOWN A 10.7 SECOND RUN!!!!!! :woot: f**king insane!
My VX SS with the standard LS1 and a few minor mod's rather impressed me I must say. I managed to put down consecutive 12 sec runs, with my best time a 12.83@174km/hr. Made plenty of nice noise and smoke and didn't skip a beat all night which I thought was pretty awesome for an old holden ;-)

Was a great night out over all with good people despite a bit of a wait in the middle of the night due to oil clean up on track.

Anyway, I hope to see more skyline enthusiasts getting amongst it in the near future.

I'm off to bed to rest up for test and tune day tomorrow at barbagallo with my beautiful blue monster; namely one fully built RB25/30 powered, loud, proud 525rwhp R34 GT-T

Anyone keen and not stuck at work for the whole day; check out the barbagallo track days thread on this forum and hope to see you there!

Cheers

Hey mate, I went down on Weds night, was good fun. What did your VX look like? Good work on the times!! I was in one of the silver 32s, managed an 11.1 which I was pretty happy about! Should have come say hi :)

Will be good to hear how Chris's black 34 goes at race wars then.

Hi James - yes, you must be the other R32 I'm referring to. I saw a couple of your runs, very nice mate!

Yes I'm kicking myself I didn't get a chance to meet you (I think when you came back to line up again each time, I was about to run down the strip so it was difficult to catch you.

My VX is exactly as in my profile picture ;-) Silver with 19" VX GTS replica rims.

Do you already run at Barbagallo raceway or are you interested in getting involved with us? (refer barbagallo track days event thread)

Thanks mate :) Ah well there's always next time! Haha sorry I should have looked in the profile pic :P

I've only driven at Barbagallo probably 3 or 4 times but am keen to do more. I'm heading up there this coming Saturday actually with a couple of mates for the tuning day, one has a black R34 (#PSIKO) and another in a silver S15 (#VFRegal) - definitely come say hi if you're there spectating (I see your 34 is off the road for a month or two). And thanks very much for posting the membership info too!

G'day gang

I'm off work and trying to tee up a few mates to hit the final whoop ass Wednesday drags night on the 28th (this coming Wednesday).

I won't be running but I'm coming down to help out and encourage a freshman with his stock-ish 34 GT-T. Should be a bit of fun.

Hoping a few of you lads might want to come down and either run or just meet up.

If there's anyone who hasn't done drag racing before or who is just unsure about anything, this would be a great opportunity to come down and have a go without any judgement. I won't be running so I'll be more than happy to help out with anything, or just emotional support if you want a passenger in the car with you etc, as I'll be helping out my mate 'the freshman' anyway haha

On the flip side, this would also be a good night for any experienced blokes to come down and show me a thing or 2 as well!

I will also have my video cameras with me so I can also offer some services there.

You blokes must be getting sick of me dribbling on here anyway so come down and get amongst it!

Cheers

Bren

    • I would again like too thank Matt for his help in me sourcing the detachable hard top for the little red car, without Matt's assistance in inspecting it and locking it down, I can guarantee it would have sold before I could get up to see it,  and as that was the only available NC hardtop in Australia, I consider myself extremely lucky on multiple levels To say I'm more that happy would be an understatement And, it is 100% water tight, I drove through torrential rain coming back south, and by torrential, they type of rain that doing 40kph in a 110kph zone was a real thing, and even then, the standing water on the Hwy was deep enough to throw waves I'm also more than happy that the huge "BEASTS" that Matt calls dogs didn't eat me for lunch, I'm sure the sniffs and licks were more to "taste test" me, over being to friendly Now to work out what colour to get it painted, panel match, or gloss black........first world problems are real
    • Actually I might have figured out. Looks like there is a tab according to google images but it's hidden. Silly me.
    • No clips on this one like the other connector. Only that red tab that I can push slightly up.
    • For any loom connector that has an obvious release that resists pushing far enough to unclip, just spray some silicone lube into it. You might also benefit from using a bent screwdriver or small pick to push in the right place at the right angle.
    • Hey all, I went to try and fix my indicator not canceling, but I couldn't remove the clockspring cable under the column so I could twist that green thin. Anyone know how to remove this cable? I see this red tab but didn't have any luck. I was thinking of unscrewing it but wasn't sure if it would cause issues. I did notice for my indicator stalk, 2 out of 3 cables were plugged in but the last cable wouldn't fit in the stalk. I'm getting it's for fog lights. It was like this when I originally pulled it off.
