valvoline 10 w40

hey guys,

i had a recent problem with my car which scared the F**|< outa me where there was a knocking sound in the engine itself.

Got it towed to SST automotives where they took a look and the noise then went away, so its nothing serious but i was recommended valvoline 10 W40 oil a few months ago by another group.

Some tell me stay well away but others say its fine.

What experience have you guys had with it? could it have started the brief knocking sound (maybe a lifter got stuck because of it or something)?

and which oil do you recommend?

Motul 300V

I use 300V Chrono 10w40 $40 for 2L. Only comes in 2L tins

I wouldnt be using that stuff in a GTST. There are plenty of much better oils you can try. Do a search in the maintainance forum and u'll get hours worth of reading. IMO, Shell Helix Ultra is good at $45 a bottle!
