All you can do is have insurance & pray your car don't go missing...

And be Vigilant...

sorry for bein lazy n multi quoting but those are my exact thoughts.

neway, living n the west, off a half ass busy road, i gained a some skill, call it whatever, to keep my ears well operating while im snoozing..(thats just built up paranoia stacking ontop of each other) my ears get accustomed to certain tones of exhausts from other imports, including other holdens n such. i can tell 90% of the time if a certain ute or van/rb/turbo/import with exhaust/holdens w/5,5.7&6 / w/ or w/out xhaust&stractrs, if they're living around the area or just visiting. yeah i know.. its pure utter madness really.

more than ready for it when that slight confrontation ever occurs though. gunna take some bullets to drop this kid.

nuff jabber,

Alarm, alarm, alarm!!!

Boys we need to take a bit of responsibility ourselves as you do have to realise that our cars are highly attractive to lowlife peasant fu<kwits so you gotta put an alarm on it!

I'm even going so far as to put 2 GPS trackers in mine. 1 in the front, 1 in the back so if they're smart enough to find one hopefully they think that's it! You can get them off Ebay for about $100 for a really good one that has live tracking via computer or smart phone.

A $400 alarm (with immobilser) and $200 worth of GPS trackers are a small price to pay to protect our highly sought after cars IMO.

I'm so paranoid about mine that I even check to make sure no one's following me when I turn off the main road!

Then like Novus above I've got a 4 foot negotiator bar and massive Maglight just inside the door to beat the shit out of anyone that still thinks it's worth trying!

I'll keep an eye out too but don't like your chances.....

yeah my alarm goes off if someone looks at it strange, get a good install and decent alarm.

i put in a tilt sensor for like another $50 also in case they just try to tow truck it.

alarm is just a deterrent. If they really want it they'll take it, remember the GTR that got put on the flatbed at Airport West shopping center. I will keep an eye out on way to work from Hillside to city mate and when I'm out at water gardens etc.

This is making me sad, i always garage my skyline but i have no alarm fitted or anything fitted yet, i will be buying a gps tracker by the looks of it as too many nissans are being taken in the west :/ my first 2 skylines got stolen, my first skyline got recovered (dumped at a lake) and the theifs never got caught, the cops have an idea of who it is but can't 100% confirm. and my 2nd skyline have't heard anything.. got taken on the side of the street in front of my mates house, with blown clutch and had immobiliser..

because my skyline is in the garage my honda will have to stay outside... but who steals a honda..

I don't get why people don't have an alarm, decently installed... Stops all of this for less than $400!

If it's installed correctly rather than "generically", you have to put it on a flat bed to steal it basically. More than just a deterrent if done right

    • The steering wheel on my 97 s3 gtr is a little bit worn out, so im on the hunt for something mint. I notice that this type of steering wheel is on several other nissan's of the era.  Does anyone know if their all identical, or are there slight differences? I feel like gtr tax applies to anyone selling one, but if it comes from any other car the price is much less, even though its the same design.  Chat gpt says the material for the gtr is slightly different and it says gtr on the wheel, but every pic ive seen it just says nissan.

    • Ahh... it's an early RE5R01A box, that means the pinouts I gave are wrong (they were for the RE4R01A 4-speed box)... I'll have to dig around in my docs to see if I've got that schematic (they used the same gearbox plug, with the vacant pin wired to the direct drive clutch solenoid)...prolly hidden away in a supplement somewhere... ...there were 3 variants of the RE5R01A ~ this early schema was what we called the 'dumb' 5 speed ; it's what jatco called a 'medium duty' box, with torque holding up roughly ~200ft/lbs or so, which was good for NA from RB20/25DE and up to around VG30 output spec. With the RB25DET (and VG33/35 mills), the only options they had was the 4-speed 4AX00 box, which had been beefed up to handle the extra torque (primarily for the VG35, but it also suited the RB25DET mill and others)...and the RE4R03 box in large 4WDs a lot of the time... ...the next variant of 5-speed was redesigned, stronger, and 'smart'...first ones had external TCU with internal (on valvebody) Shift Control Unit, pressure switches, and 2 x TSS...and the last ones had internal TCU+SCU setup, with CANbus control etc etc. @DRoc81 On the RHS of the box towards the rear, there should be a stamped silver ID tag -- what's the model number? Oh...and with the early 5-speeds, the torque converter control solenoid assembly should be replaced as well (31940-60X00)...it's a bit Murphy's Law ....if one has failed, bet on the rest not being far behind ...
