Hey Guys,

I went to have my new X-Force stainless steel turbo back exhaust fitted today.

Turned up to my exhaust guy.

He suggested we leave the car for a couple of hours to cool down, which seemed logical.

Then it came time to get it to take the old one off. He tried to loosen the bolts on the turbo (exhaust outlet) and he said they would not budge.

Because they were actual bolts and not nuts on the end of a fixed bolt he said he was unwilling to push them as they might snap and then we have to pull the whole turbo off have some trouble.

He has got me to spray this special penetrative lubricant (from the deepest mountains of germany) every time the car has cooled down on the join of the turbo and exhaust until next tuesday (18/05/04). He reckons that this will work.

Has anyone else came across this problem before. Has anyone given these bolts a good yank and had no problems.

Please let me know your thoughts guys.

Cheers,

J-Flash

Sounds spooky... but he's probably right they might be tricky and if the lubricant trick works you could save yourself a hundred or so in labour costs. Probably worth taking his word for it for now and if he still has trouble next week take it to someone else for a second opinion.

Are you thinking what I'm thinking B2!!!

id look at it from the angle that hes trying to save you some doe, and do the properley - wouldn't you rather wait a week, have the bolts loosened, and get it all out easily, or have him just ham-fistedly thump the ratchet with a hammer, risk cracking the turbo housing and costing you poetentialy thousands ?!? Id be thanking him, not looking to bag him with a second opinion.
