So I've had my 2-door R33 for 6 years now. It's still running well, maybe better than ever.

It's time I got something with 4 doors and a bigger boot for 2 reasons:

1 - I need something to kart my 9 month old in (currently a baby seat sits in the Skyline)

2 - I need something more "respectable" and newer for work (I get a car allowance and tax deduct).

Do I keep the R33 and buy a 2nd hand Mazda 6 liftback for $17k.

Or

Do I sell the Skyline and buy a Ford G6E Turbo for $27k ?

This is my dilemma. I change my mind twice per day. Hit me with all your crazy ideas !

p.s. Yes I have considered a Turbo RX8....oohhh baby.

I don't really want to get rid of my R33 as it is set-up nicely for hacking the streets with pretty much everything I want. Yet it'd sell for fark all.

eg.

Quality stereo/speakers and 12" sub

Bilstein shocks

5kg/mm front, 4.5kg/mm rear springs

adjustable whiteline swaybars

Apexi turbo

Front Mount

3.5" exhaust

Nistune

18" Rays wheels

R32 GTR seats

G6E turbo FOR SURE. I used to work for FORD and absolutely loved driving these around, very comfortable and has all the safety and technology you need. Also at the same time it's a very good looking and respectable car, then once you punch it you poo your pants. They have a lot of power and look stunning. Damn if i still worked for FORD i'd sell you one and deliver it to you!

Keep the R33 - Get a nice car that is practical for work/baby duties- and even a weekend lug around

And enjoy the benifits come tax time- 90% business use im sure :)

im sure you will miss the 33 when you get a little urge for some fun.

Also is teh 10k extra for the ford really un feisable without selling the R33?

crunch the numbers- Work out the position you will be in with selling the R33 and buying the ford.

or keeping the 33, Buying the ford and what you would get back once all is delcared/car allowance

The figures wont be as scary then

$27K is a bit cheap for a G6E Turbo isn't it?

I'd grab one of those at that price.

I think that's the changeover price he's talking about if he were to trade it in or sell it privately, or if it's a used G6E Turbo

V35 sedan! Exec styling, isn't a ford, easily fits a baby seat, respectable, not a ford - what more could you want!

Might not have a ford badge

But you will then be the ugliest car on the road

    • I much prefer that to an actual oil pressure issue, never would of thought it would of been a volt drop issue but SAU brains win again. Guess ill be turning down the oil pressure limit for the track and hunting some grounds. Ill hopefully update this thread with some high oil pressure and solid ecu voltage logs.
    • You've just discovered a really good reason to tell yourself, yes, I do need to buy an aftermarket ECU. Put the MAF in the bin. Slap in the new ECU and have a think about what turbo sounds you prefer.  Do you want a 90's style BOV wooosh? Do you want a hektik tsututututu?  Mate, can't go wrong. Just gotta get that ECU and the world is your oyster.
    • Hi. Iam just curisou about this topic. I saw this video. It is about Greddy Type FV2. I know that BoVs are about that sound but how and when to use it? I read some topic here and from what i have understand on stock RB with MAF there will be some "problems" if you use this BoV? It vents the air in to the atmosphere and the MAF on stock car needs this air back in to the intake and not out? Or is it wrong? If so...i saw you can put some adaptor to circule air back...but does that not "loose" that sound? I saw another BoV from Turbosmart and it has two "exhaust" like ports? One is for the stock tubing for letting air back and one is for "sound" and let the air in the atmosphere? Can someone please explain? This is the Greddy one:  And this is the Turbosmart.     THANK YOU!! EDIT: So i read about this topic some more and i if i understand that correctly: That Greddy can function either like BoV or 100% Bypass valve? And that Turbosmart is what they called hybrid so you can adjust what and how many air can be vented out or back in? Is this right? THX!
    • That dirty voltage drop is the culprit I suspect
    • i cant get them all in 1 screenshot unfortunately as i just dont know how to move things around tbh, but they are all from the same log and the line crosses at the same point for all of them
