Hahaha i will definitely enjoy... and no polish or wax!

Rims are ready, just gotta wait for Michael from Acute to pick them up from ADV.1 and ship them to me!

Here are some pics for the rims.

Fronts without the custom adv1 logo yet to be painted in orange

Rears which have the custom coloured adv1 logo

I am going for matte black and orange highlights look, hence the reason why the number plate and adv1 logos are orange, calipers are getting done next week.

porsche has more pull mainly cause its worked and running more boost, but its a rough ride with the coilovers and more wheel spin. the GTR feels much more safe, and its power band is very linear but its faster and handling is out of this world. its very tamed and easy to drive, i couldnt believe how they made this car feel so normal when u drive it in auto. i was looking at getting the C63 or RS5, but having driven both, i bought this one without ever test driving an R35 before hand, and i havent regretted the decision at all.

i was daily driving a c63 for a couple months before buying the R35 back in 2010

good daily the c63, but got bored of it. gtr is in another league in terms of handling and acceleration, even in stock form

you made the right choice

Rims are arriving today, got a call from FedEx to pay the customs duties and GST Sunday, while I was severely hang over from the night before but yet still managed to give my credit card details (from memory). Cant wait to slap them on. I'll post pics once its done.

Ok, FedEx called after I inquired as to "WHY THE f**k DID I JUST RECEIVE 3 WHEELS?"

Apparently one of the wheels went missing, like WTF? Who buys 3 wheels? when the wheels are packed in a way where the tires are all exposed and clearly say 1 of 4 etc. How can one item have been left behind? What incompetence! When you see 3 wheels that say 1/2/3 of 4, anyone with the slightest common sense would think "Wheres the last wheel?!" Anyway, I had to take photos of the wheels so FedEx can try and locate the last one. Like they have no idea what a wheel looks like. I said to the customer care rep at FedEx "You must be stupid if you think I own a tricycle, because what else am I supposed to do with 3 wheels!". Poor bastard, not his fault but he copped the full brunt of my frustration. This is such... bullshit!

FedwrEx are kunts, if it makes you feel any better I had exactly the same thing happen with a custom made set of Volk TE37 I waited for 3 months for from Japan for my FJ Cruiser. two wheels lost by IPEC!!! same story, what do you want me to do with 3 wheels (I ordered 5!). Lucky for me the lot of two just came out on another flight from Japan (not all on the same plane!) go figure........

I feel your stress man, good luck.

When Fedex shipped my Advans from the USA they had to be inspected by customs. They removed all of the protective packaging from one of the wheels and just left it all off. The wheel was thrown from truck to truck naked...I was super lucky there was no damage was done.

Fedex can die in a fire

dom, its the savings that buying through the states that entices us to do this on our own. im saving atleast 2-3k on these wheels and tyres.

just got updated on FedEx, they have located the missing wheel, it was still in Oakland CA, apparently the postage labels fell off... i had to send pics of the wheel and tyres to make sure they found the right ones. anyway, they are on a plane and should land in sydney tonight, and ill get the wheel tomorrow. thank god!!! cant wait to put them on the car

I've just read this thread and realised you bought the car I went to see, and more than likely would have bought if you hadn't beaten me to it! I ended up getting a good deal on an '09, I took a picture of both cars together when I picked mine up. Its awesome mate, hows the wrap? Is it easy to maintain? I'm considering it as the black is nightmare to keep clean!

the wrap is very good, theres some untidy bits around the side mirrors and spoilers, but thats to be expected cause the amount of curves and what not, but that will be replaced with carbon fibre bits later on. wrap is easy enough to maintain, im not scared of getting scratches cause i can easily re-wrap the panel. it does get dirty easily but i love the colour and a quick rinse with water and chamois and ur good to go.

just installed the rims a few days ago... here are the pics.

Nice wheels mate. I wanted a set of ADV.1 myself.

As for the shipping, I'll have to disagree there, FedEx are actually the most reliable international couriers out there. Yes from time to time there may be delays in multiple consignments or even missing, but their rate compared to the likes of Toll or DHL, is much lower. Then again it does come down to the driver delivering the goods.

I'd do something with the lower sills, look a bit odd in those pics, maybe wrap them too

The benefit of a contrasting colour is it gives the illusion of a lower, longer car and helps to hide the bulk of the GTR. Some of the full wraps (and most notably a white-wrapped GTR) just make the car look too bulky to me.

    • My hold point for future mods is that I want a OEM detachable hard top first, but, finding one is a pain, MX5 Mania are looking for one for me, but, as hens teeth are more common, finding one in Australia is proving problematic  I can get a OEM one from overseas, hell, you can still get new ones in 'Merica, but, shipping is a absolute killer and I cannot justify the cost, or the risk of it being damaged during transport As for the aftermarket hardtops, whilst they do the job of being a hard top, and are fine for a track car, they don't seal well (read: leak like a sieve in the rain), and you need a plastic/poly rear window, plus they are a bolt in option only and not made to be easily removed I liked how the hard top on my NB could be fitted, and removed, by myself, in less than 5 minutes I know it sounds bad, but I'm waiting for someone to write off a car with one so I can swoop in on their pain, it will go to a good home though, so my guilt of this is tempered
    • I’ve got one on mine and it’s fine,
    • No, you don't want to plug the vacuum line, as that will turn that side of the booster into an air spring and probably make it feel worse. I'm not saying that the GTR master itself doesn't need a booster. I haven't paid attention to the GTR one to know what size it is cf the non-GTR ones. But when you think about it - they have to do the same job, which is to move a little slave piston a few mm to do what it is supposed to do, and that final action is the same on all the cars. So, it is very unlikely that the GTR MC is any different than the others, because it has the same pedal stroke and the same output requirement. The booster just makes it feel easier. I'd suggest you probably have an actual hydraulic problem. It's totally common on these old shitboxes.
    • Ye, in terms of bolting up the "Conversion" from a GT to a GTT is effectively "Use GTT parts for everything" Except the subframe itself, because you won't want a HICAS/4WS subframe. Remember your ABS system will be different too, thanks to GT being the S15 3 sensor system, instead of the R34 4 sensor system for wheel speed. I do not know how people get this to work given R34 diffs do not have a provision for an ABS sensor (they are on the tone wheels of the axles). I assume***** people use S15 gear/R34NA forever when they realize this - Or they convert it to a rear diff/axles that are R33 style which I presume has the singular speed sensor on the diff itself, but then you have to wire it all in and...and... and...
