Anyone for some Karting tomorrow nite?

Ok - heres the scoop.

A group of us have book at go-karting night tomorrow night at Go KartSports in Moorabin (the tricky indoor place). Unfortunately today a number of the guys have pulled out which has left us right on the minimum numbers - but another guy is away today ill so Im a little concerned.

So I am seeing if there are 2 people out there interested in coming Karting tomorrow night. Basically it is people from my work that are doing it - however both Ash and Noof will be doing it as well.

The details are as follows:

Where - Go KartSports - Chesterville Rd Moorabin

When - Friday 14th starting at 7:30pm

What - 3 races - 10lap qualifying - 2 x 15lap races

Cost - $92.

I'm really only looking for 2 people at this stage as the place has a minimum of 12 but a maximum of 16. We have 12 now but I dont want to fill all spots incase some of the pull outs changes their mind.

We'll all be having a drink at the venue afterwards. If you havent seen this place its pretty amazing! They video the races and then you watch them on large screens afterwards over a few beers for a laugh. The karts are quick (200cc) and the track is tuff (none of this foot to the floor all the way around shite) More details can be found at:

Mate there is apparently off street parking for the place.

Having said thay my GTR wont be coming - if only for the reason I have a NO Beer and Drive the GTR rule. Way too dangerous! Doubly so after a night of Karting! lol

Simon mate that can be done. I was asking for 2 knowing there was room for 3. So yeah - all sorted.

No I didnt ask Gerald cause he'll kick my ass! lol

Great stuff guys - all sorted. Its going to be a lot of fun. We'll probably organise another full SAU one later in the year.

Just want to say on behalf me & my bro inlaw, a big thanks to the snowman it was a great fun night. To Snowy, DJ, Ben & R31 you are really some nice guys and hope we can organise another one this time for the SAU boys.

A couple of things I noticed about tonight, Snowman is a real hustler pretending he "was" trying his best... Ash & Nathan, you guys were awesome showing off your rear wheel drive skills applying pressure on the GTR drivers, and as for that bloke what's his face.... aaah yeh! Ben, all I can say is you win some & you lose some, but did you have to win everything!!!! I thought a yellow meant slooooooow down, why was it that your car was the only one with Laaaaaaunch Control??? or is that a GTR driver's tactic. Then you go and aniliate the lap record for the day.. not fair :D.

As for me... at least us fat blokes weighing 100kg having some advantages I think it's called traction, something Ash & Nathan wouldn't know about.

Damn how can yas pay soooo much for go Karts? Ace Karts in sunshine are having a 10th Birthday celebration $50 all u want to ride all day!! Sunday 23rd may

Theyre races are alot cheaper also has an outdoor track meaning its bigger and faster!!

Ok - Im still hurting from Friday night! LOL

But otherwise a big thanks to all that came along on the night. Ben it was great to meet you and you certainly kicked ass on the go kart track. Now I look forwards to moving the challenge to the race track mate (will send you PM today regarding Sandown)

If anyone has never been to this Karting track I'd have to recommend it. The facilities were by far and away the best I have seen for a karting venue even if the karts werent the fastest. The track made up for it by being very technical (11 turns in all) - oh and the karts were awesome for drifting. We were saying afterwards we'd be keen to have another SAU night there (its great cause its indoors with a good bar so it makes a great social venue) and maybe do something a little different like on of their endurance team races.

Will keep you posted on any plans. And after discovering the weight advantage at this place I'd better go eat some hamburgers in preparation!

Having a few extra kg to haul I never touch the low power indoor karts, but seriously recommend ACE in sunshine for races/timed laps and Somerton for the quickest hire karts in Melbourne. These are almost as quick as the old clubman kart I raced, just with a centrifugal clutch. Last time out I completely destroyed a left rear and was wrecked afterward. About $40 for 10 min (or was it 30-35) but a serious test if your are a little unfit as I have been with ruptured disc troubles for 8 months.

Well worth the $90 without a doubt. I dont care if some places are cheaper, the facilities and track at this place is wicked fun. The track is much more technical the Sunshine

LOL, i loved the dorifto, first time i've got sideways in anything for months!

I remember passing comment Nath said to me when we got out after qualifying.

So true lol! It's sensational fun, and an SAU day will have to be organised for SURE!

I told ya that weight made a difference. I just kept sliding all over the place till the tyres got warm lol!

      I should try the experiment you're talking about, the throttle switch is still there carried over from the R32 and it's still all wired up but after I did the whole intake manifold refurb and had to recalibrate the TPS I managed to somehow get the idle switch reporting activation at 0.22V, then when I adjusted it to 0.45V for idle it decided the engine was permanently no longer idling which caused some very weird behavior, closed loop idle was disabled so it would basically be at the whims of the cold start valve and whatever the base timing table was at. Then just unplugging/replugging the TPS with the ECU live caused it to relearn the idle TPS position and decide 0.45V was idle. Presumably there's nothing in the TPS that allows for the throttle switch to "recalibrate" like that, not easily at least.

      Duh... to answer my own silly question, it's actually described in the FSM... ...400 pages away at the end of the manual, for RB25DE/DET signal descriptions, it cites the TPSwitch signal action, is dependent on the TPSensor value ~ this tends to infer the builtin POT voltage signal is the primary, and the switches are fallback/secondary should the POT fail/TPSensor signal lost (and switch alone with no TPSensor signal allows for base idle speed setting).... makes sense... they (TPS units) used to fail/wear the POT with time, they're not exactly built to last ~ having the switch as a redundancy gets around this...(or, it's less likely both signals would be lost as they're on different power rails)... and of course wrt RB26DETT, you have to electrically disconnect the IACV solenoid from the harness, to defeat idle air control...

      Dose is unaware just how much fun 145-150kw would be in a 2.5L NC MX5. It would be one of the most fun things to drive to ever grace SAU.

      Same thought crossed my mind ~ depends on how one connotes 'stalling'...ie; gets a rough/stumbling idle as it get warm until it stalls... or... idles ok and simply falls-over when it gets to temp... ...you can test the whole circuit with a couple of resistors ...unplug coolant temp sensor, bridge terminals with a 2K7 resistor (ECU will do cold start), or with engine warm bridge with a 330R resistor (ECU will consider engine to be at normal operating temp)...it's a quick way to check wiring integrity/ECU response when you don't have a multimeter handy ...
