Hey guys well i have a rb25 powered patrol, going the 30DET root. I have the block here and the head. Heads off tomorow to get get the oil gallery plugged up. I need oil restrictors for the head yes? Where do i buy these from? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Yes ive searched and searched. But there are so many different opinions as to what head gasket i should go? Can someone link me to one so i can go ahead and purchase. Ive heard i should go ones thats got built in o rings?

Thankyou. I have about 3 guides im reading in front of me.

Keep in mind i live in a country town and there are no such places as performance engine builders. Ive found one place that will screw the hole up in the head

Thanks Zac

I got my restrictors from Lewis Engines. Ebay has a NZ place selling them super cheap : http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=oil+restrictors+RB30&_sacat=0

I used 2 x 1.3mm restrictors and still ended up with oil in the catch can with 80psi of oil pressure above 5k.

If you're using an external oil feed for the VCT, I would suggest maybe going slightly smaller. Just my opinion, but there is a huge thread on oil restriction.

Regarding your second post - you MUST run restrictors no matter what. I didn't with my first build, and there was oil f**ken everywhere lol

So do you reckon i should go 1mm or 1.2mm? Later on ill be runner a bigger garret turbo and say around 14PSI.

Im currently reading the 357 page thread and i think im confusing myself more and more. Hence why i created this thread.

Will the standard rb30 oil pump be suitable? I plan on rev limiting it to 7k maybe even 6.5k. Also should i go a standard rb26 head gasket? 1.2mm i belive they are?

Thanks heaps for your reply mate, we have no performance shops here so yous are my best help.

I can sell you 2 x 1.0mm restrictors. That's what I have in my RB30/25 (with VCT).

Hey guys well I bought a rebuilt rb30/25 that's already assembled. Just bare engine. The heads s2 but doesnt come with coils or anything and my old s1 engine comes with nearly brand new coils ect. So can I just swap all that over to turn it into a S1

    • Racetronix also sells those ethanol content sensor bypass blocks. Adapter, Flex-Fuel E85 Sensor High-Flow Bypass, In-line No Sensor (ADF-FLEX-NS): Adapters - Flex Fuel | Racetronix Ethanol content sensor are originally designed to be on the feed line. These bypass blocks are meant to be ran in the feed line and not return. The continental ethanol content sensors have a 3/8" ID and not 5/16". This is why they are ran on the return line directly in conjunction with a low threshold sampling value VS in the feed with one of these blocks.    Haha we think alike, I used both original feed/return for 8AN feed, and one of the Hicas lines as a 6AN return. I also capped off and left the other Hicas line as a spare.
    • Interesting, I haven't read about the issue with oil getting into the speedo in the cluster before. I'll have to take more notice with mine. The speedo on my R32's when I've run factory diff and tyre size have never been accurate as far as I can remember. The non Type-M GTS-t did come with 15" 5 stud wheels and smaller brakes, but that's less than 5% of them.
    • Good to hear the condenser you picked up off my brother worked all good. Do you think there could be an issue with your AC compressor itself or the clutch on it then? I don't know a lot about them so I can't really help but keen to hear what it ends up being. Keep the build thread going man, it's nice to look back on over time.
