Hey guys,

After recently purchasing my stagea, with an aftermarket kit/skirts, lowered on nismo springs, ive come to realise how stupidly hard its going to be going anywhere. (Maccas is now off the cards as the stagea wont get in their driveway!)

Ive decided to start looking into a fully engineered airbag suspension kit.

Now, the issue im facing is that no one knows wtf a stagea is, let alone if theres an airbag kit suitable for it. I Hear there are alot of similarities in the stagea to other nissans (V35 mainly) Does anyone know what the suspension setup is like? (Im aware its springs/struts allround anything past that i have no idea)

ive spoken to a guy on the central coast (nsw) who does airbag suspension for showcars and he asked me to take heaps of photos of how the car sits now and what the suspension is like currently. so im yet to take photos and send them up to him but i figured id ask first to see if anyone can shed any light on the matter. i will be updating this thread with my progress but any tips would be greatly appreciated!

If i do choose to go ahead with the install (Set a budget of $5500) watch this space!

Im really only toying with the idea at the moment, but in order to make a decision i need a little more information on the matter, ive heard of people bagging their accords for little over $3k, aware the job may have to be a custom job, ive allowed a little more for the job.

p.s. im 21, currently living at home, no expenses, little responsobility, May aswell, right?

If you can't get into Maccas with nismo springs, your doing it wrong. How much did you chop off the bloody things?

IMO, let the accords/lebspecs have their airbags. Instead budget fora turbo rebuild, because it will go eventually, and power/handling improvements, and a nice set of genuine rims.

Its the bloody Gialla(Galah) Front bar it sticks out a good bit from the front of the car...

Just do it bro, that's exactly what customising is about, doing shit your way and your styles.

Should be easy enuff, go see a mini truck bagger, there are some excellent units out there, you will probably need custom inserts to match your chassis pick up points in the rear, the fronts would be a bit different as they are struts. Just make sure you get bags with damper capability, but the bagman will know if he's any good.

The $3k++ can be used wisely elsewhere on the car that will bring you more pleasure and rewards....

Japanese laws regading the 'height' of your car relate to the chassis and what hangs off it from an 'engineering' perspective ( exhaust, etc ) - so, as a result, they design body kits which make the car 'look' really low. a la kenstyle, Galia, etc. the car isnt lowered, the body kit is. Nightmare. And I completely empathise with it!

'Bold world' (Japanese company) have an air suspension kit (more than one actually) so if you're serious about it I'd chase them up first up.

Any contact details for bold world? The google machine seems to be broken, and im not very good at japanese >.<

UAS (Ultimate Air Suspension) in the US do air bags that replace your spring on standard struts or coilovers. This would be the easiest route to go on the front as it keeps everything in the standard spot.

Then for the rear, you would put these in but they look like they require some chassis drilling to hold the top and bottom plates.

And finally a whole management kit to run the show depending on if you want front and back control or all four corners control.

I'm no expert on the subject, but IMO this is easily doable for the weekend garage warrior with guides found online and troubleshooting.

Very helpful.  Thanks heaps.  I would love to see the setup in "MrM35" Stagea.  I have only seen exterior stance photos?

    • They see me rollin' they hatin'....... Took me most of the day to make the necessary mods to the mounts to make them fit the car.  Fortunately I was able to just use the mounts that came with the rotisserie. The rear ones are really secure, the front I feel i might reinforce a bit more as it doesn't seem like enough attachment to the vehicle. I'm sure it's fine but better to be safe than (extremely...) sorry.  I drilled and tapped thread into additional M12 holes to each car mount where it attaches to the rotisserie as an extra fail-safe. Without them the side to side movement is just restricted by the allen head pinch bolts, nothing actually goes though the beam. Does now! I still need to adjust the rotisserie to get the car centred in terms of centre of gravity. If it's too high or too low relative to the rotational centre line of the car, it will be like a turtle and roll onto its back or as it currently sits, I dont think I'd be able to rotate it as it sits as it needs to lift the whole car up as it rotates. Ain't happening... I'm going to be nervous as hell the first time I go to spin it on its side...
    • Oh yes done this when the window started flopping around.  Turns out the guides that run along the rail chanel had crumbed way. Took off the door card and pulled out the window mech, then the window, which you have to pull out through the top. As said unbolt the guide rail and don't spend 30 minutes getting frustrated trying to find a way to slide it out upwards cause that don't frigging work. Drop it down and out through the door hole. All I did to repair it was slice some 10mm clear plastic tube, vertically, then screw it to the guide rail both sides. This tubing rolls inward on both sides and leaves a gap wide enough to hold the window. To finish all I did was lube the plastic tube with olive oil and Bob's your uncle . . . well if he has the operation he can be your Aunt ! !  10 bucks in plastic tube and another 5 minute job done again . . . . YEH BULLSH#T ! My love for Skylines knows no bounds !
    • So was there a solution to this problem? I’m having this issue now.
    • not expensive, just irreplaceable if you don't go sub 60 at wakie in that thing people will start talking
    • I haven't replaced that, but I have had the doors apart on the r32 a couple of times The door skin will be held on by a combination of clips and bolts, just take it slowly and make sure all the sneaky hidden bolts are out Once the skin is off you should be able to pop that piece off pretty easily, looks like there are only 2 bolts holding it on
