Hey guys, ive read a few posts about misfiring but mine seems to be different.

So basically, my car misfires on start up, really bad idle. the misfire is through the whole rev range boost or not. sometimes it goes away randomly then runs smooth for abit and comes back.

ive got splitfire coilpacks that the previous owner changed, recently changed oil to castrol edge titanium 5w-40, k&n oil filter, z201 fuel filter

i took it to nismo performance and got a diagnostics, they said there wasnt any electrical problems and said it was mechanical.

i changed the irridium spark plugs because there were old it ran okay for a few days then it came back and it has seem to have gotten worse. so i changed then back to irridium because they seemed to run a bit better.

thanks in advance, josh.

please help ive been trying for about 2-3 weeks now and i got no choice but to drive my car cos need to work to save money to fix it lol

mods

k&n air filter, catback

perhaps another thing would be to check the crank angle sensor (CAS) also might revise the gap of the spark plugs as splifires behave a bit differently to OEM and need to be gapped accordingly

Thnx for your response and yes i will let others know when i fix it.

how do i check the CAS like what do i need to look for, for example like faulty wires? phyisicall dmg or do i need to use a scanner or something to diagnose it?

im thinking of regapping them down to .8 some ngk copper ones.

i fixed the problem, today i regapped the spark plugs to .8 some ngk copper ones. put them in. the car was still misfiring. then on the way home we swapped one of the coilpacks with the oem one and it went away. then we swapped back the split fire and it was still okay. it turns out it wasnt the spark plugs or coilpacks but it was the clip that connects to coilpack number 2 isnt connecting properly have to wiggle it and push it in a certain way for it to contact im thinking of getting some paste for more contact any suggestions?

exactly same thing happened with me, bought new coilpacks, one went bust a day after installation

might be best to just grab a new coilpack loom/harness as the one from the factory has most probably expired its usefulness, could be bound to cause u grief even though you fixed this problem as other components are probably on their way out

can grab a nissan oem one from here

also cheers for keeping us updated, there will be many after you with this prob as these cars get older so this will be a good reference thread
