Greetings at you all.

Recentlyish I put a GTR BOV on my R33 GTS-t sedan just for fun and perhaps a little more Bov noise.

All was good for a day or so, then it started doing the weird fart noise at about zero psi.

I thought it may have been because I did the small hose inside a larger hose trick, so I got a 38mm - 28mm reducing style hose and put that on but it still does it.

So I made up a plate from some aluminium sheet and drilled some smallish holes in it to use as a gasket, thinking that the reduced flow to the plunger might help.

It gave me the flutters, so I made the holes bigger and back came the fart noise again.

If I block off the bleed hole on the outside of the BOV will this fix it?

That is the next thing I was going to try.

I have tried a different GTR BOV and it still farts at the same zero psi and put my GTS-t Bov back on and the farts stopped.

Yes the GTR spring is softer than the GTS-t and I guess the GTS-t bov leaks back into the piping but the GTR leaks out.

The car may even be more responsive with the GTS-t bov on?

Knowing that many people have used GTR bovs on GTS-t's and that this fart issue has come up before (as I have searched heavily but found no fixes). I am at a loss and am wondering if there is a reason it happens and a way to stop it.

If all else fails, I'll just use my GTS-t Bov again. No big issue.

In case it matters, I have K&N panel filter, silicon intake pipe, Stock Turbo, 10psi actuator, R34 smic, gutted cat and 3" catback blitz exhaust.

Any wisdom is much appreciated.

TL;DR ???

Why does a GTR BOV on a GTS-t Fart?

How can the flatulence be stopped?

Rob.

It comes down to what fuel you been running mate, u must of been running some shtty fuel and youve upset your cars insides, so it's not feeling very well and farting........

Soz had to do it

Fuel is Caltex 98 always. (i know you is justa be a funny). Case of gastro?

lol, yeah if I give it the (baked)beans, it's not a problem as at boost it all works normally.

It's only when it is at 0psi and I can make it happen for ages if I feather the throttle.

Do GTS-t bovs stay open at light cruise? In my head, I can see the plunger doing a weird vibration as it closes but I'm only speculating.

Guess it has to do with a softer spring/larger bore?

As far as a video goes, there is one in this link which is an identical sound.

4th post down.

fart sound happens briefly at 6 seconds.

yep, I've had that noise, but I relocated my gtr bov when I got a bigger turbo and moved the afm to the hot side of the turbo. mine made that sound as soon as there was any boost it sounded like a train's horn, just a constant noise of what's in that video @ 6 sec.

it's the bov opening on light cruise as aggroman said. can't tell you if yours is buggered or not, not sure why some people are fine and some aren't. when I did swap my gtst bov for a gtr's I did notice that the diaphragm inside the gtst one was alot harder to push in the the gtr's.... the gtr bov was fine until the bigger turbo.

so I just got one similar to this -> http://www.turbosmar...umb-back-nissan that I could tighten and made it as tight as possible, which it needed to be as the bov is 15cm away from afm which could causes issues if it's leaking on idle/cruise.

Not to say there is anything wrong with gtr bovs, I liked mine, but right tool for the right job.

may have been this one as it is adjustable... http://www.turbosmar...duct/plumb-back but I know the current one I have is mostly black.

Ok, so I've tried 3 different GTR Bov's, and it still happens.

Tried a different vac hose as the GTS-t hose seems slightly looser on the GTR nipple. Still does it.

Tried blocking the little hole on the side which stopped air coming out when the spring compressed and made it stiffer. Still does it.

Back to the GTS-t stockie pitchewwwwww.

I know the GTR Bov is unnecessary but it sounds a little nicer and well hey... It's off a GTR !!!

Anyone know the reason / fix for the GTR BOV FARTS???

So today I installed a gtr bov I bought. Had this problem so googled it and look what came up Rob! Haha..

You didn't happen to find a solution to this did you...?

Hahaha! Nice one. :D I think Mik has a thread on it too.

Well I swapped to a different GTR BOV but I put on my Metal intake at the same time. Whether the intake helped or not I don't know, I don't get that sound atm but I don't know what fixed it.

I might do a swap back and see what happens. I actually just put my GTS-t BOV back on yesterday just to see what it's like with the metal intake and Pod. It's heaps better than stock but the GTR sounds better.

I will be changing it back.

as far as air escaping at the flange goes, I use the same gasket as the GTS-t BOV and it isn't a problem.

Ah ok, thats alright. I don't it's causing any harm.. Just sounds weird..

I'll just get used to it and it can join the rest of the mad wisping sounds that come from a podded turbo lol

I have a GTR blow off valve on mine, have tried 2 and never had any fart noises, id say its likely to be a leak from the gasket as ive previously had the same noise from a leaking intake plenum gasket. Clean all surfaces and apply generous amounts of gasket goo and see if the noise goes away...

That fart noise is the same as blowing on an A4 piece of paper with your lips which would make sense if air was leaking from the area with some pressure.
