will be sold with rego til November 2013.

How have i not seen this thing in Penrith..

Done a good job not getting pulled over in Penno also

Guess your not driving it at night lol

Gl with the sale man car looks Insane

man i so wanna put a towbar on this and tow my drift car to the track..

one can dream.. im so suprised it hasnt sold.. are people retarded, this car is awesome

Cheers fellas... I can't believe it hasn't sold either. All I know is that the market's a bit quiet at the moment. Must be some sorta global financial downturn that's keeping people from buying insanely fast and practical cars.

I don't get hassled by the fuzz in the 'riff (Penrith) purely because I only cut loose in the right time, place, circumstance. Entry ramp off Mulgoa Rd to M4 heading westbound, has excellent entry speed and runoff if traffic timed right (and it's REAL close to Regentville copshop, hehe). Yeah, I don't go in for the night cruising scene either... I'm a family man now dammit! :D

Will be paying for 6 months rego/CTP (til 28 Nov 2013) tomorrow. -> It's Shannons CTP, so that's gotta be worth another 5-7kW ! :rofl2:

G'day 02stagea,

Actually just took delivery of a shiny red 03 BMW X5, 4.4L V8 last Thursday for my wife. So nah, not looking at trading for an X5 anymore.

Cash/cheque/bank transfer etc is good to go!

Cheers,

Pete

Hi Pete, Dmitry here from AusJap, this car is incredible and looks absolutley amazing. Unfortunatley dealing with the usual customers from the import world has taught me that the car may be worth it but its so highly modified and expensive it will take somewhere around the 2 year mark to sell at 20k.

In all honesty I dont see people paying more that 15 or 16 thousand for the car at absolute maximum, and it breaks my heart to say it but if you want maximum cash back in your pocket you will have to part out every bit off it, looking at the parts list you should hit 25-30k in parts quite easily.

It sadens me to say it but beople with 20-30k cash just arent looking for a stagea no matter how amazing it is, please dont take it the wrong way, the car is worth every cent of the asking price its just no one who is into imports will part with that amount for a stag.

one of the guys I sponsor here in SA cant sell his immaculate series 2 r33 with a huge amount of mods for 10k, again same problem perfect car great modifications but no one willing to spend more for an R33. Im trying to convince him to part it out as well, put all stock parts back in and finally sell it.

hope im completley wrong about the time frame and someone comes to your door tomorow with the cash and buys it mate, good luck

Dmitry.

Hey Dmitry,

Thanks for the honest and candid feedback and the industry insight, and be assured, no insult taken.

You are right, there's not much demand for pre 2000 wagons, partly because of their age, and I would be able to get considerably more if I wrecked it and parted it out. From what I can see, $15-16K is prob about right for a heavily modified RB25 stag or a stock high k's, poor condition 260RS.

Now it this was an NM35 with the same donk... that'd prob be a different story.

Parting the car out is something I just can't consider at the moment given just how "time poor" I am.

It will probably take some time to sell, purely because it will take an educated buyer looking for a 260RS who is not happy with the stock performance. But once someone sees it who knows what they want, and knows any sort of basic roadmap to performance mods (and costs!), they will surely jump at this car.

If you are in the market for a RB26 Stagea, ala 260RS, dealers are still asking for 20-22K for stock, tired 260's... in my mind it's a no-brainer, how could you go past this car.

I'll leave it at this... if you were looking for an equivalent, you would have to drop about $15-20K on a Holden R8 Sportwagon, get an Audi RS6 (the V10 ones) or spend considerable time and money to work out how to make a Chrysler 300C SRT8 handle properly, go faster and stop quicker. All of those are around $70K + options.

Over to you, general public!

Found out this week during a test drive that with passengers in the back, under full noise, she squats so hard that the left rear ever so slightly rubs the guard. FAT 265 treads!

Rear guards rolled this morning at custom wheels & tyres (penrith, good guys, did the job well and quickly, $45 a corner). Full clearance now :)

would have been keen if it was genuine Autech, hard to justify that high price bracket on a rs4? model even if it does have a 26 in it. you can get highly modified genuine 260's in the low 20's/high teens.

Been shopping for the right one for a while now!

good luck with sale though but I think you may have to part out

i would have to agree with you, i think you just have to face the facts its not an autech and you'll find it hard to get that sort of coin, its not say that is not a nice car but good luck with the sale

    • @joshuaho96 Hmm considering the drama you've seen/experienced, have you looked into getting a built complete long motor shipped from Australia?  Considering the AUD is basically monopoly money when compared to the USD, at a glance this seems like a good option?

    • I mean the other day I had to walk someone through diagnosing why their timing belt was walking off the cam gears. At least one of the issues was a bent tensioner stud. Local mechanics have found runout on the CAS mechanism causing weird failures. I'm also no saint here I've documented some of the things I've had to learn the hard way. Something I discovered recently is that my CA emissions catalytic converters weren't even welded correctly to align the downpipe to the main cat and they tossed the support bracket that goes from the transfer case to the downpipe to support everything there. I spend a lot of time chasing down these decidedly unsexy problems and the net effect is it feels like I never actually get to the original objective (flex fuel, VCAM, oil control, cooling, etc).
