I'll start by apologizing. I have gone through the RB25 upgrades and dyno thread. I've gone through google. I've done all I can, and I honestly can't get my head around it all. So.. I'll need to ask (A question thats probably been asked at least 7 million times (Give or take a couple of threads)) So. I'm sorry I have to add to it all.

I have an S1 R33 GTST.

Its running:

Haltech E11 V2 with 3 bar map sensor

3.5" exhaust, high flow cat, stainless dump/front split pipe

Walbro Fuel pump

33 GTR injectors

R34 GTT side mount (Probably my biggest let down ATM)

High flow stock turbo.

Dyno'd at 256RWHP @ 11PSI

I want more.. Id be happy with around 350. How would I go about achieving this? Obviously get rid of that sidemount. But, is it really better then the justjap intercooler you all know I'm gonna cheap out on? How much can that turbo go to? I REALLY love how punchy that turbo is, how low it comes onto boost. So, if I have to upgrade the turbo to achieve 350 odd, is there something that will keep the punchy feeling I get?

Once again. I'm sorry for this kind of post. I'm relatively new to turbo cars, and the shopping list is whats saying on the reciept from 101 motorsports this guy who owned it did to it.

Get the JustJap front mount. There is nothing wrong with it.

Get some better injectors. Not because you need more injector but because its easier to make HP on a better injector.

Turn the boost up to 18psi and you should knock out about 340hp atw

id go bigger injectors and a second hand fmic kit.if its a highflow turbo u should also run more boost and should achieve around 250kw on average with a safe tune which is around the 350hp mark but the power ur making at the moment is easy power for a stock turbo and anyone with a highflow and after market ecu should be making more than that so if i were u id be double checking u definatly have a highflow turbo before u go running more boost and getting a retune

yeah you would need to see a receipt for that or even better pull off the exhaust housing and check the rear wheel of the turbo.

Probably pretty important to do that in make sure it is high flowed otherwise the guy will get it on the dyno, ask 18psi of it, and the ceramic rear wheel exits like last nights curry.

Also pretty important that you get a tune after changing the front mount intercooler and upping the boost. Otherwise might end up in areas the car cant handle n it will det its head off.

Im iInterested to know why a car with bigger injectors and turbo would be running only 11 psi and a power range the stock injectors could have handled...

Rule number one with modified cars , if you didn't fit it and you're not 100% sure it's what it's supposed to be , check it to be sure. Gtr injectors on a 25 is interesting , it would be more expensive to buy and make fit than half the brand name injectors :)

some hiflow's wont even make 250kw, my old one made 220kw..

If it were me id send turbo to hypergear for a inspection, even improve on whatever it is.. then you know what you've got before wasting money on tunes..

Then FMIC and injectors cleaned or replace.

I thought GTR injectors were topfeed.. thats odd.

Yep GTR injectors in RB25 is a good sign something odd is going on.

How long have you had the car? I'm guessing not long at all... So get everything checked, if the fuel rail & wiring is stock for instance the chance you have GTR injectors is nill so you might have something else in there or potentially stock ones.

Same with the turbo.

Yeah to run GTR injectors you need aftermarket rail etc which would be pretty obvious and probably the easiest to check.

If you take pics of the turbo wheels and post them we should be able to tell you, same with the injectors actually :)

Only had it a week. Was a sorta quick thing.. needed a vehicle, had one for sale, yada yada. Kicking myself a little for it, but it had to be done.

I've had a look at the injectors. They are indeed factory injectors. Going to pull the dump pipe off on saturday and asses if its had the rear compressor wheel changed (I've been reading!) Though.. For some reason, I doubt its been flowed.

Who the f**k would get a haltech and a tune on stock injectors...? Considering how cheap injectors are these days.. Seriously annoyed the dude lied about it all. If its just the injectors he lied about. I'll only be a little annoyed, and then get a set of 2nd hand ones. If its the turbo as well. Keep an eye out for a 33 driver who went on a rampage.

well there is a fair bit to be had from a tune on skyline on its stock injectors and turbo. Stock boost is 5-7psi and really rich.

Up that to 11psi and tune with a zorst n intercooler n its a pretty good bang for your buck result.

Injectors, air flow meter and a turbo + all the work to install them and tune is not a cheap process. Hence why alot of people do just the aforementioned.

If it is indeed this but the guy has said high flow , gtr squirters etc thats pretty damn snake of him. Still, you should have checked it out and verified it before buying...

true.

If you can find out who the tuner was, and as long as they were a decent one, you could get a FMIC on there n hopefully a good boost controller if there isnt already one on there and up the boost a bit n retune- which if it is from the original tuner should only be a cheaper touch up tune...

I fell for the same shit when I bought my car, was told it had a fuel pump and injector upgrade and possibly a highflow..some on here would remember the stupid questions i kept asking because of it...

but i knew no better, i didn't even know where the turbo and injecotrs were when i bought it

At least you got a haltech, all i got was a boost tap, a bodgey exhaust with cannon muffler and a thrashed excedy clutch...

    • I'm running a Haltech Platinum Pro with the stock map for the RB20DET + tweaks for my build. When I started it this morning, the IAT was at 32F/0C (Outside temp was ~42F) and the AFRs went off the scale for my AEM gauge. I let it run for ~30 seconds then turned it off. I then did a smoke test, by hooking into a vacuum line directly behind the throttle body, and confirmed there was no leaks ( i let the smoke tester run for ~5 minutes / confirmed it was generating smoke before hand ). I then started the car again, after fixing a power steering leak.... and it seemed to be happy for ~30 seconds (was at ~11/12), but then seemingly shot back up to ~18 again. I then let the car run for a few minutes, thinking this was just cold start related, but the AFRs never came back down. I didn't let the car fully warm up, so maybe this makes sense, but I'm not sure what to do? The AFRs, when I last ran it, were normal, but because of personal reasons I haven't been able to break in the car. It was rebuilt last year.
