I've been defected for rear tires. Cop said "good to see you weren't driving like a dick" and told me to replace and go v roads.. No fine, no roady.. Maybe I just got a nice copper

There you go, drive sensibly, still get pulled over and defected. He might have been nice not g you a fine, but consider that he was being a prick for pulling you over in the first place...how often does it happen to non-imports...

You're probably right. It was Christmas Day

lol certified cockhead then. I got done on an Easter Monday.

Hmm kinda sucked.. For some reason I was a tad bit excited as it was my first defect. Felt like I was baptized or something into the import world lol

Lol we both got done on same day, same cop, same area.

Forget about engineering cert, won't save you from an emissions test which you will fail with either injectors, afm and high mount etc

Well your all saying that you get picked on, here are a few stories of bad driving from last week that I saw. (none in imports too)

Idiot 1: drink driver crashes car, 4 times limit, Learner driver too without fully licensed driver.

Idiot 2: Learner driver crashes car when he had 2 mates in car that could drive on P plates.

Idiot 3: runs through red light right in front of marked police car, fails to indicate twice, does 15km/h over speed limit and only had one tail light.

Idiot 4: Learner driver again without fully licensed driver, no lights on at night and then tries to tell me she is her 44yo mum and just looks 17.

Idiot 5: Another one that runs red light in front of marked police car, no tail lights at night and fails to indicate twice.

Add to this a pursuit, and number of other cars caught doing 20+ over limit. All this was right in front of me or called to scene of accident.

I'm glad you're getting people for not indicating. Shits me up the wall when people change lanes without indicating...they usually do it into your lane as you're approaching a red light too.

There is no link to vehicle being NOU before. The only thing that can flag vehicle is if we do report (field contact) regarding the vehicle/driver. If you're concerned as others said change the registration over, new rego with nothing tagged against it.

i didnt think the cops care about rego history....but driver history

when i checked my rego on the police thingies (in a highway patrol car....LOL LONNNG story) it goes off driver history.....

If the vehicle has no current defects it wont flag.

Is it really that bad now with defects compared to say this time last year? I thought it had all calmed down in the last 8-10 months, seems to be alot less hoon stories in the media, they had a bit of a fascination with it last year both media and police.

Unfortunately all skylines and really any rwd nissan will get picked on, even if you wern't doing anything wrong you can still get pulled over.

If your worried about buying a previously defected car then dont buy it, you'll just be paranoid when driving it and that used to shit me when I had my 32, always wondering if I was going to get an epa in the mail or pulled over for no reason, friggin annoying.

its the luck of the draw really, mod smartly aka no pod...or bling in the engine bay....

if you cant be defected with an engineers then everyone would have one

same old rant these threads

yeh its been winter, wait for summer

Hi Guys,

I am looking to get a Skyline gts that has been defected before for noise, height and wheels...Car has passed the compliance since...it looks very attractive as well, which may attract cops attention with the nice looking wheels and i think it has a black carbon fiber front bonet...

It has a high mount turbo and i have a history of my GTR being Defected before with mods...

Just want to know if I am looking for more trouble and getting into more shit? I am afraid that the high mount turbo might be a problem if i get pulled over...car is doing 300kw atw and its a cheap buy of 10k with forged internals...

Anyone with any suggestions?

I'd seriously be asking why it's 10k...

    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
