Tyre Inflation

Hey guys I'm after some help on how to inflate my completely flat tyre. My tyre was extremely flat the other day and instead of taking it off and going to pump it up i took the chance of driving it down there, long story short the seal broke. The tyre is still on the rim.

Is there a way to do this at home??

I can pretty much guarantee your tyre is screwed if you drove on it enough to break the bead. Take the wheel down to a tyre shop and get them to strip it and check if its chewed out the sidewall.

I would hope not as the tyre is only few months old still has 90% tread. The only reason it went flat is that the tyre place got a smal bit of a rag stuck between the rim and tyre when they fitted it and I only noticed this the other day. It had a constant slow leak develop over the past few weeks. I drove less then a 1km as I just tried to get to the servo around the corner but their air was out of order so when I got home it had de beaded itself.

Spare wheel wasn't an option?

If the tyre still looks OK after this incident, I still wouldn't be putting it back on the car with the exception of maybe a skidpan day. By running your tyre to the point that it unbeads, you have subjected the sidewall to significant stress and is now much more likely to fail in comparison to the other three tyres.

I don't know about you, but I drive far to enthusiastically at times to drive around on dodgy tyres

If you drove on it flat, chances are VERY likely you will require a new tyre.

take it to a tyre shop(even another that won't get a rag caught), and get them to look at it.

next time, if possible, always replace with your spare until it can be repaired.

it can be a costly mistake.

Aside from all the info about the tyre being damaged, without a compressor (and not one of the ones that plugs into the cigarette lighter) you won't get the tyre on the bread without resorting to some dodgey method involving fire.

but yer, the tyre will be borked for sure. I got a flat at 100kph in the wifes shopping trolley, and by the time I had stopped, the bead had slipped off. As soon as I took the wheel off, I could feel a weak spot in the sidewall all the way around the tyre, just by poking it, and it had done a maximum of 100m off the bead.
