Got a r32 gts-t with tein hr coilovers.i dont drift,i dont race, just like to fishy now and then.problem is has 17s and the front spoiler scrapes on everything and it is a bumpy ride. Was gonna wind up the springs a bit to raise the car about 1 inch but am thinking it will only make the ride harder. Its gonna be my daily.i just got the car and it also came with stock coilover suspension. It has slight camber and it handles real well.I am thinking of putting the stock suspension back...is this a silly thing to do...Any advice appreciated...cant even get a jack under it..cheers

i thought it was the lengthening of the spring which made it lower, ( the collar lowers to the bottem of the shock) thats what happens on mine, when the spring is shortened the ride height goes up but then the ride becomes very springy..

is this not right?

No.

Lowering the collar moves the wheel up relative to the car but the actual position of the collar doesnt change relative to the car, ie unscrew the things down 10mm and the car drops 10mm - the spring length doesnt change.

FWIW springs are measured in kg/mm. ie for a 10kg/mm spring you load it up 10kg and it deflects 1mm.

If you want to raise the car then you can do so by winding the collars up it doesnt upset the spring length just the shock travel.

If you want to soften the ride you need to either lower the spring rate or soften the bump on the shocker or both.

Probably 8kg Front, 6kg rear. I've driven on HR on an R33 and it was super responsive but also stupidly harsh and would jump over any ridges in the road. Not a fan. You should sell and if you want cheap coilovers get some from BR in something like 6 front, 4 rear.
