Is there a way around taking the balancer off to slip a degree card on?

What about a sticker that goes onto one of the lips of the balancer? Too dodgy? I thought if I can't find one then i might make or get some made with a thick back so help keep it straight while fitting. Thoughts?

Assuming you want to check cam timing.

Double sided tape. Or mark/drill the wheel and use M6x1mm metal threads to attach to the balancer.

Either way you need to establish No.1 TDC, and reference that against what the timing mark on the balancer is showing. This will assist with your ignition timing map as well.

Yeah both cams are retarded from head skimming making it lazy down low.

Another member Pm'd me about using the 2x 6mm threads which I hadn't thought of. Just need to buy a wheel now and adjustable ex gear.

Plus like you said I will be able to more accurately set ignition timing :)

It's more than just a bit unfortunately. I bought the head with VCT welded up and external feed setup so it had already been skimmed at least once. Then after port/polish and removing squish pads it was lightly skimmed. I cc'd my original head to this and they were both 64cc although these valves are dished a little bit compared to stock.

At 3700 I'm 9psi and 100hp down on Stao. I think it's partly due to the tune being far from aggressive but that being only a small part of the problem.

Lining up TDC on balancer I'm 1/3 of a tooth or so retarded on both cams. At 5 btdc it's exactly half a tooth out
