cobrAA
Made 520whp on GT-SS.Now, I just swapped to -5, added water-meth and charge pipe. Just wondering when the 3 inch exhaust become restrictive? ( Suck because I like the sound of mine and bought a 150$ ultra-quiet resonator as a test pipe, varex electric valve and one extra muffler, I heard that 3.5 inch exhaust sound a bit too rumbly isn't it ?) The Dan
Made 520whp on GT-SS I highly doubt it. What fuel? But to answer your question, normally 3inch cat back will be ok for 450hp at the wheels. Most of the important stuff is before the cat so it depends on what you have there Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/411363-when-do-you-need-more-than-3-inch-exhaust/#findComment-6575002 Share on other sites
cobrAA
I wll say it again ( I got bashed before on this forum). I don't care if ppl don't believe my number. I'm not a showoff and couldn't care less about bragging my setup/numbers online. Number are only for reference not for bragging. Fuel is 94 octane. So what I should do is get a Y pipe ( front pipe, we call it?) 3.5.. TRY to find a resonator 3.5 inlet and 3.0 outlet. That will be the hard part. blk94r33
Going up and down .5" doesn't really need different flanges. I.e. you can bolt 3" to 3.5" so long as the bolt holes are in the same spot. I'd imagine it would flow a bit better with matching flanges though... Well it matters how much HP you ACTUALLY make because you are asking how much HP your exhaust can handle. If you make more HP than you should be able to on the pipes you have then nothing you are told is going to mean shit What mph does it run at the drag strip?
