hello would anyone be able to help me with finding a resonibly good engine to drop into my r32 gtst i was think along the lines of a rb25de or an rb26 but i have change the mounts over and theres alot more detial that goes with a 4wd engine i would rather get a front engine rear wheel because i do belive its better on economy and i really need some advice cos i want to beable to build to a peak of acceleration and handling would anyone know of good pats for an rb25de

because the rb20 i have now is shit

any advice would be great

life is what you make of it not how it treats you

i want to add the following if i buy the rb25de....

apexi power fc, hand controller and boost controller kit

z32 air flow meter

hks 2530 or ax53b70 turbocharger or t04e/garrett gt30

r33 or r34 gtr front mount intercooler

full 3.5" exhaust system, including hiflow cat, dump pipe and front pipe

255 rear tyres or 265 tyres

im not sure weather i should or not till i know what would be a better engine for my skyline

buy an rb25det and add those bits, the compression in the rb25de will limit what boost you can run to about 7psi tops. the 2530 and ax53b70 will take heaps more boost than 7psi

it would be silly to add those bots to rb25de, rb25det and above bits should get you 240rwkw

I have done a RB25DET conversion on my R32. I highly recommend it, the hardest problem to overcome is converting the wiring to run the new computer. Aside from that, everything drops in and bolts up.

ryno

is the compression ratio very diffirent to the rb20det or is it roughly the same

because i have asked around but the idiots up here no nothing about imports there all ford fans

life is what you make of it not how it treats you......

i think u mean u wanna go a rb25det not de

DE is non turbo and slower than a rb20det

a rb26dett isnt a 4WD motor

the motor is normal like a 20/25

its just the GTR has a 4WD gearbox

if u put a rb25det or rb26dett motor in u better get a R33 turbo gearbox because the R32 gearbox will go bang

sorry scarfier i miss spell when i type to fast sorry mate i was thinkin of putting an rb26det in it but i dont i will becuase it involves awhole lot of bull that i really dont want to go into because i know so much but thank you or you input and advice would u know anything about the standard turbo on the rb25det to a 2530 turbo i want to build it strickly for acceleration what would be the best idea for a minuim $$$ roughly about 15 grand worth

sorry scarfier i type to fast sometime and miss spell words, when i thought about the idea i was contemplating putting a 4wd engine in it but it involves to much piss farting around so anyways if i replace the standard turbo i got on it would i be able to replace it with a bigger turb and would it give me roughly around 7 to 9 psi of boostkeeping in mind that it wil limit me as someone has already given me advice on it what is your oppinion on this

kee[ing in mind this would involve me replaceing the standard features on my car already

the plan........

apexi power fc, hand controller and boost controller kit

z32 air flow meter

hks 2530 or ax53b70 turbocharger or t04e/garrett gt30

r33 or r34 gtr front mount intercooler

Hmmm you need some explanations as you obviously arent all that familiar with what you want to do.

RB25DE (as u stated) is an NA engine out of the factory with and hence compression will impair your wish to boost.

RB25DET is a turbo engine out of the factor which will have better compression for boosting.

RB26DETT is the GTR motor, you do not have to run it in 4WD config as it is the gearbox and electronics on the GTR which enable the 4WD, not the engine. So it is quite easy to set it up as RWD.

Once you understand what each engine is, then you can proceed and select which one you think you would like.

Is your R32 turbo already? if so, then there is nothing wrong with the RB20DET engine in the first place unless it is cooked.

Why would you want a standard R33 side mount cooler, or GTR cooler. Obviously it's not because you're trying to save money since you are thinking of upgrading turbos and the likes. I think you need to do a little more research about oyur car before you do anything to it.

Also, perhaps the mods could move this to the correct Forced Induction forum.

Hope this helps, I was trying not to be too critical.

ok to clean this up for u

if u put a GTR motor in your car

its easy

u need to do these things

buy a R32 GTR engine with loom

it bolts straight in and the loom fits

get a wolf3d V4 so u dont need bigger AFM's

buy a R33 TURBO gearbox

get a good strong puck clutch or twin plate

put a bosch 040 fuel pump in

get the tailshaft refabricated to fit the R33 turbo gearboxall up it should cost u near the 12 to 14k mark

otherwise its a turbo bolt on

like a 2530 fuel pump etc etc

if i was u id go and read on the forums before u ask stuff

u obviously dont have much idea of what fits what and that

i dont know alot about NA engines considering this is NA forum and i have read some of the post in other sections of the forum. I thought i would ask some more experienced people because i do not want to put a gtr engine in the car as i do not like the gtr's an they are way to commen to see.....

the reson i am asking you guys this is because i thought the rb25det was the na before i bought it then i got some more info on it before purchasing it and it's a turbo engine and consider i like the na look better i thought i could ask some real people who know something about these engine and what i can do at Miniumal expense.......

i was looking at rb26det but i already new i would need a r33 turbo gearbox for obveous resons but i dont like the engine i have in it now i know theres nothing wrong it because i just want to do and engine change over becuase the the rb20det is going to be a put in a 180 hopefully so that i know but back to what i was saying i know alittle of lilttle ok it's not like i have spent yrs in yrs in imports shops and perfomance place to under stand what u guys are seeing this as.....

i would just like some advice

Hope this helps, I was trying not to be too critical.

You probably won't need to swap gear boxes (depending on what sort of power you're chasing). I've got a RB25DET in my R32, and the gearbox is holding up fine. I know a guy in NZ that only started breaking R32 gear boxes when he got to 250 rwkw (he wanted to keep the R32 GTSt box, because of the weight saving over the R33 one)

im glad u think other peoples problem an ideas are funny drifto...

i would hate to see u idea of a project

yeh ryno thats right i spoke to a guy at g-tech performance and he said that same thing only that once i hit about 260 270 kw i will have to look at a stronger gear box but im still concerned about the compression and power to weight ratio on the car body not that it wiould have a major effect on the car

work out if you wanna mod up your rb20det (which should be fine) or do a full engine swap. i dont think say 200 odd rwkw warrants an engine swap, of course its totally upto you.

the rb25det should be able to do about 250rwkw with stock bits just updated bits as follows:

apexi power fc, hand controller and boost controller kit

z32 air flow meter

hks 2530 or ax53b70 turbocharger or t04e/garrett gt30

r33 or r34 gtr front mount intercooler

full 3.5" exhaust system, including hiflow cat, dump pipe and front pipe

255 rear tyres or 265 tyres

twin plate clutch

r33 gtr fuel pump

not sure what power you would from an rb20det with same mods, less because of capacity size (of course) and also compression level. the rb20det runs higher (i tihnk) compression and more boost then rb25det

whast your power level target? how many rwkw?

    • We have some genuine Japanese legally decommissioned car number plates now in stock 🙂 Add some legitimately obtained JDM style to your Skyline or other Japanese model, or simply as a garage/man cave decoration! About the 40mm hole: The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport in Japan recognised the popularity of keeping decommissioned plates among car enthusiasts and came up with a method to "destroy" (or render them unusable for street use) while still retaining their collectable/usable value for display etc.  We have 40mm hole covers available to cover the hole nicely with a Sakura motif, which are also available in white in (very!) limited quantities, however they frequently sell out. Please let me know if you're wanting one or more of these and I'll check availability. The Sakura motif covers are more common. https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-decommissioned-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-set-su-7515 https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-decommissioned-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-set https://www.oemsoko.co.jp/products/genuine-japanese-vehicle-number-plate-400mm-hole-cover *Please note that we can't obtain particular number or area name (eg: "Gunma 500 Fu ・86") if requested. All plates are provided as they become available after decommissioning.
    • Ah, fair enough. For the IAT, I'm using a legit GM sensor that was used on the car prior to my current build. I'll get another wideband and IAT ordered and follow up when they show up. Thanks for the help.
    • You shouldn't need to massively fatten up the mixtures for cold conditions. For one thing - 0°C is not that cold. For another, the Haltech will be using the IAT sensor to tell it how dense the air air, and calculate the correct amount of fuelling. Then the cold start enrichment is added as a % on top of that, so it should scale with the main fuelling. You might also doubt the IAT sensor at this time. You're not using one from an RB26 are you? Using a nice Bosch sensor or similar? Happens. Some wideband units take great pleasure in killing their sensors. Put another wideband in the tailpipe and compare. Or just swap the sensor to a brand new one and see.
    • Oh, my misunderstand. When the car was running, it sounded ok, but if I gave it any gas it wanted to die but caught itself afterwards. It's very different from how it was a couple months ago when it was warmer outside. The logs show that the AFRs are better during, what I assume, is warmup enrichment. Because it's cold, and air is more dense, should I work on the enrichment bit?
    • yess of course im not using 2nd hand parts from my spare engine, but the place where i live is hard to find parts for the RB20DET ,but for the RB20E is everywhere including new ones and a lot cheaper ,because for the RB20DET you have to order it overseas to get one and it cost a lot of money 3x the price to be exact. so i ask this topic because if i can use the new ones but for RB20E is it compatible or not. if not im screwed haha, not totally screwed but i have to save a lot of money first before i can begin repairing my engine, thanks for the information before.
