Just had my r32 gtst lowered with king springs (low, not super low) and now the bloody car bounces around like it's on air shocks and the rear end stutters worse than rainman! Really convenient with Dutton rally only weeks away!!!

To anyone that's done this before, are the factory shocks too soft for the much harder springs? Are my shocks kangaroo edward (ROO - TED)? Or is there somethings i've completely missed???

I have 17 x 8 & 17 x 9 (F&R) simmons wheels with 235 F and 265 R rubber but otherwise the suspension is factory...any ideas?? :(

New factory shocks would hardly have sufficient rebound dampening to control 30% higher spring ratres, and I'll bet yours aren't new. :boinkcar: Any more than 60k's and they are worn out anyway.

Bilsteins or Konis would be my suggestion.

Can you tell me the offsets of the rims, and the ride height of yor car, measure form the wheel centre to the guard???? Any rubbing problems, are your gaurds all std (not lipped and still in place) ;)

no idea what the offsets are (Mr Simmon's took care of that one) but the car is 30mm lower than factory. Yeah the rear left rubs when cornering hard or over a large bump but the guards haven't been touched - i'm getting the lips rolled next week...

yeh i agree with what SK sayed,

i have a 32 droped on its ass, on 225s, i think the front skirt is 95mm off the ground

i have hks sus and no problems, holds on tight around corners then slowly lets you no it when its coming loose, quite reasuring,

About to put some king springs in my car this weekend. Was wondering how low it sits with 'lows', i know now 30mm. I am leaning towards the bilstein shockies in the next couple of months...

Does anybody know of any good stockists? Preferably in SE qld but I wanna look around and get some prices from some websites. Is there different spec shockies made by Bilstein for the 32 gtst? I am after comfortable daily driver that can be taken to the track/strip a couple of times in a year...

it sits bloody brilliantly!!! Looks real tough and aggressive without being try-hard. Just had new shocks fitted (Pedders - budget couldn't strech to bilsteins) and my advice is to get new shocks as well ASAP!! All of the information posted in this thread is 100% true - mine now handles like a dream thanks to the stiffer springs and new shocks - best thing you can do to improve your car and it's perfect as a daily driver and a track weapon!

Mchaplin, How did your car go getting wheel a alignment done, after being lowered 30mm?

I'm looking into lowering mine, and I'm trying to work out whether I need to go the "whole hog" and get the whiteline works package, or get away with a cheaper option like you've done.

On the topic of money, what did it cost you all up (for the king springs and new shocks)?

wheels, tyres & king springs all up were 3.5k...could be cheaper i guess if you get smaller diameter wheels Flaps...

Ryno - I guess where you're budget stretches, a good whiteline kit with shocks, springs & swaybars etc would ultimately yeild a better overall package but you're looking at over 2k for something like that, the shocks I got were pedders GT and fitted were 1k, with the king springs, their a good combo and certainly make a massive improvement over standard. Something else i'd recommend when lowering, particularly if you have much larger wheels / tyres is rolling the guards' lips, i've done the rear but the fronts need it now as well, particularly if you do track work where you're braking hard and turning at the same time.

I'll have to source some prices down here, and see what the best option is. I already have 17 x 8 wheels all round (with 235/45 tyres), I will have to go down to 225/45's up front to avoid the front tyres rubbing on the upper cross member, when the car is lowered. But all four corners shouldn't rub the guards.

Do you know the model number for the King springs you used? And do you know if they're a progressive rate spring?

It costs $1500 (fitted) for the shocks and springs package from whiteline, so if the prices work out similar, it may be better for me to go with them.

cool, don't know model number - but if you enquire with anyone, tell them you want "low" not "super low". "Low" is 30mm lower than standard and most people advise against daily drivers with "super low" springs...

I just lowered mine today using king springs 'lows'.

The box says on the side in niko writing:

KDFL101 and KDRL102

I got them thru mercury motorsport www.mercurymotorsport.com.au for $230.

I lowered it with a mate, all went well, took under 3 hrs. 32's are alot easier to lower than 33's - you dont have to take the back seat out.

    • Hey guys. I have a 400R on its way to Australia from Japan currently and have a few questions I’m hoping others may be able to help with.   Wondering if anyone here has had any luck getting the Sat nav unit to work in Australia!? Assuming the Stereo is as simple as a band expanded and tv won’t work?  Seeing as they’re based off a Q50 which is Aus delivered is there any way to link that system to the nav? Nav modules and head unit are different part numbers and appear slightly different at the rear with plug ins etc. can I put my xtrail sd card into the rv37 and will that convert the maps or update to Australian? Has anyone got any advice here?     also has anyone fitted the factory remote start and Security system once it’s landed in Australia? I put an enquirey to Nissan Japan in via a third party, and they suggested it needs a Nissan Japan dealers device to setup and couldn’t guarantee if one here could do it or not. They can supply and I can physically fit it but to setup I would need a dealers device. Any information here would be appreciated also. I’ve seen one here with it fitted already prior to leaving Japan at a dealer/inporter, so clearly passes compliance and works when fitted Japan and doesn’t need changing here.      also, does the tyre inflation sensors work here? Does anything change with them when the vehicle arrives? Where are they actually situated? I’ve read they have batteries and they need to changing at times and seems like resetting involves the nav system?    any help here would be appreciated and any other aust specific information to help would be great. Looking forward to see what the current generation skyline is like and eager to see how many of the gadgets can be utilised here.  Thanks in advance 
    • Do need to take it with a pinch of salt. One of the adapter failures, they clearly had setup issues with the flywheel.  One of the slipping ones I spoke to and it was pretty clear the throwout was riding, rather than fix, just swapped to a new clutch.    These clutches are being put in anything from 5k offroad 4x4 beaters, GR yaris, 500hp commodores to 1200hp barra monsters. Bound to be some issues in some of them when they are not a simple bolt in affair due to the changes in height.    There is a lot going on in this picture and unless I did the job myself no way to tell what really happened. 
    • I did this mod in 2019  You just have to modify the top bracket of the ABS/TC/Fuel Pump Control ECU so it sits more upright and closer to the back seat and run a good quality positive battery lead from the engine bay, the negative lead i just bolted down to the body in the boot.
