Tachometer Going Crazy

My tachometer is going crazy very often, sometimes its just completed pegged out and sometimes it just moves all over the place, it never shows a steady idle although the car runs just fine. I am certain its the sensor but I have no idea where it is located. Can you please explain to me where to find it or give input if you think it is something else causing this problem.

An easy way to fix this is is to get another cluster and put that in. I've seen plenty in the for sale section. I had this problem, so I did some research but no one has found a solid answer of how to fix it. So I just bought a cluster And swapped the tachometer and had no problem since.

If the wire to the rear of the cluster to the rpm tacho is soldered (I don't know with skyline clusters), then it's probably cracked and needs resoldering
