Nissan Delivers Juke-R #001

First customer Juke-R has even more power than the concept. But if you don't have the $650,000 on hand, at least you'll be able to drive it on your smartphone.

With the 478-horsepower engine from the 2010 Nissan GT-R propelling it to 62 in 3.7 seconds and on to a 160mph top speed, it'd be hard to find a faster crossover than the Juke-R. But now that Nissan has delivered the first customer example of its extreme tall-hatch, more power is exactly what it found. By fitting the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 from a newer GT-R, Nissan has upped the muscle in Juke-R #001 to 545 horsepower, taking it to 62 in an estimated three seconds flat and on to 170 mph.

The first customer Juke-R has ditched the sinister matte black finish of the concept for a sparkling coat of white, which only helps show off the tweaked front end, carbon trim, rear diffuser and additional cooling vents on the production version. What's more is that, with the second example already under construction, the Nissan Technical Centre Europe and the RML racing team with which it has partnered will build you one, too, assuming you have the £400,000 (or $650k) to pony up. If you don't, though, Nissan has the 200-horsepower Juke Nismo to offer.

Don't have the scratch together for that, either? Nissan has teamed up with Gameloft to include both the Juke-R and the Juke Nismo in the new "Asphalt 7: Heat" mobile racing game, which you can check out in the brief video clip below.

This!

Out of all the cars... A Juke...

Think Nissan will put the VR38DETT in a Cube next..?

Being so aerodynamic and all it would make sense!

I think its a wild concept and would bring the lols so go Nissan! They should do more random stuff :D

Aerodynamic for the Juke or Cube?

And yes it does bring the lols!

No worries

I agree. If OEM's are at all involved in making the performance car landscape more varied and interesting I say why not? Bring on the lulz.

They're all sold, even at that ridiculous price.

Wait till you start seeing AMS Alpha 12 Juke's destroying Italian exotics on youtube.

I really liked this video by Car and Driver too.

Looks like a laugh, but most people with the money would choose a car to be taken seriously in.

I loooove the slow mo effect in this video. I'm trying to figure out how to do it with my gopro camera :P

^same as above not a fan of the front spoiler with odd round holes, looks worse with the white one that got sold

normal Juke has just been confirmed by nissan for sale here mid next year.

as cool as they are there are many other cars i would buy before a Juke

Nismo one looks overly complicated

Like the colour combination

Hate the car body and insides , those slab guards look like a hyundia with add on flares , the grill looks like a charlie brown cartoon face, and the insides look like a hyundia getz !!

Good for nissan to do stuff like that

Price is insane and bet it floats like a plane at 170 haha scary I bet

Should buy up honda and drop it in the mugen CRZ looks better , or do a retro 1200 coupe wide body or 510 instead , or even a retro gtr body with updated driveteain and comforts inside ? Camaro charger, stang style ??

Then price it about 60-80k and watch the que up to buy them ??

should also make gtr r35 crate motor drop ins for 32,33,34 that would be cool ?

    • Thanks for that Paul.  Do you think if I posted a picture you'd be able to remember where it went?
    • Sorry Duncan, I didn't get a notification for the replies.  Thanks for responding!  It's a full Android device, but does allow you to use CarPlay/AA as well.  This is the one I bought from NaviRS on AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006368602668.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.111.59aa1802JDzQ0E - the 2K 8G-256G CAM variant but it seems to have gone up by £170 since I bought it!  My purchase was £307.14.   It's not the fastest thing in the world but performs perfectly adequately.  It stays on standby unless I disconnect the battery and let it power down, then it's just a fairly standard Android bootup time from cold.  The DSP Equaliser is very nice and made the standard stereo system sound pretty decent compared to the stock screen.  Perhaps I can take a video of it when I get a sec. It *allegedly* supports the reverse camera, but I'm yet to get that working.  It has options for reverse cam (a camera unit can be bought separately) or 360 cameras (also bought separately).  To be fair it doesn't seem to detect that the shifter was put into reverse but I'm working on a theory about this as well.  At the moment I'm going without which is a bit annoying considering the car is an absolute canal barge but so far I haven't caused any damage I'll grab a picture of the wire I'm missing later today when I can get outside.  My theory, by the by, is that not only is the head unit different, but the CANBUS network has different signals for the different years.  I think this because I have a spare AC panel from a newer Infiniti G37 (as opposed to my Nissan panel) which wouldn't control anything except the volume when I had it wired up with the stock system.  I'm going to throw it back in and see if the screen will respond to it.  I've just ordered an arduino CANBUS module so I can have a look at the signals going around the car and see if I can spot anything.  I'm thinking if I can work out what it's expecting vs what it's getting I might be able to translate and relay the signal back but so far just a theory anyway. I also found this on my travels, so far the only one that specifically matches my car: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002822934280.html?spm=a2g0s.imconversation.0.0.33433e5fgttovi If you look at the picture of the before, it has the card reader slot, and the picture of the head unit is exactly the same as the one pictured in my original post.  I asked if they sell the cables separately but sadly they won't.  I didn't want to just buy this one because it's a super old Android version and only dual core - likely slow as hell.
    • As above, you did refill the coolant and burp the system before running it again didn't you?
    • To be fair - you see the same thing for every clutch. There's always someone making an installation error.
    • Just saw this, redacted names. It's on a R33 GTS-t Facebook group. Looks like still teething issues.
