Hey guys,

I've been testing the water, reading, learning - and I have taken a deposit on my current car this weekend just passed so can hopefully start looking for a V35.

In a perfect world I would like a 2006 Premium, Auto in Pearl White with Sunroof. Preferably in Vic.

Plans for the car are pretty basic - rims, coilovers, exhaust for some note and that'd be it.

I don't know how likely I will be to get this combo, but we'll see how we go. I am not going to rush into something - I'm a bit OCD so if it's not a mint car to start with, then I will forever be spending money.

If anyone sees anything along these lines can they let me know!

Also - for any Pearl White owners, have you had any experience or issues matching the paint? I have had a pearl white stagea before and it had Nismo sideskirts - sprayed by the previous owner - but they never quite matched. Has anyone had similar issues?

Out of curiosity, why an automatic? Goodluck finding something man, Pearl White in a Manual would be harder to find too i haven't seen many about the internet.

Edit: Pearl white is such a nice colour, there's a few new Camry's at work that come new in the colour and i must say it compliments the car a lot.. Even though they are ugly.

These are the only 2 cars that come close to what your looking for, tried searching for Victoria but had no luck. Hope this helps!

Thanks mate. The white one is SA is nice, there is also a slate grey one in vic that i like a lot (even though not white) but it's 26,500!

I'm all over carsales, drive, gumtree etc. But often there are some people who know people etc....trying to make sure i've got the feelers out!

There are some nice ones for import.....but i like being able to inspect with my own eyes.

http://www.j-spec.co...ne-7059769.html - mismatched rims.....jury is out, but at the moment i like it.

As for auto - the reason i'm selling my car is purely because i'm over driving a manual too and from work (1 hour each way in CBD peak hour traffic).

If you want sunroof in your V you're going to have to get the 70th Anniversary model, I'm pretty sure that's the only model that comes with sunroof

ORLY? That's no good - I don't like the cream interior that the 70th anniversary has unfortunatley.

No worries man, $26,500 is ridiculously overpriced for the car unless it has a massive amount of work done to it i.e paint & body and motor..

Yeah i know how you feel about not being able to see the car, that was my mistake with buying from Brisbane judging only by pictures then seeing it in the flesh and it had a few problems :/

At least you're getting out there and seeing whats around, best thing to do when buying a car is inquire EVERYWHERE.

3k?! Well I don't want a sunroof THAT bad - but would be nice.

How do you find the colour matching on your paint @NORBY ? Do you notice any difference between the shading on the bumpers vs the body?

And any import yards in melb you would recommend - or recommend I steer clear of?

I know you're looking for a white one....

But Southern Special Vehicles has a really mint looking black V35 which I drive past every day to and from work.

I for the life of me can't think of it, but I think theres a highly reputable importer in bayswater?

Some of the other melb guys might be able to come up with his name.

I heard some Sheldon guy was selling a pretty Mint V35. It's white with a sunroof (but unfortunetly has the cream leather - which actually doesn't look too bad once you get used to it)

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/nissan-skyline-2004-13563101?

Would even lower the price for a forum member ;)

Also, to answer your question - Pearl white is hard as shit to match. Which is the reason i got my entire car resprayed White with Blue Pearl.

Paints pretty good, although mine has the factory aero kit so im pretty sure it hasnt been painted by anyone but nissan.

Tbh there isnt many import yards, theres a place on scorsby road bayswater.... i cant think of the name.

Otherwise check out import revolution which are in the area also, they can advise if any customers are selling cars etc.

Thanks mate - i drive past that one every day too - the wherels look poxy, but I planned to go check it out in a lunch break to see what the quality was like. My stage was from SSV and it was great. What car do you drive, i'll keep an eye out!

Your car looks nice, Sheldon - but probably a bit 'too' nice! Don't think I can spend that much without my balls being taken by the missus, and yeh, black interior is my preference - i'm a fussy bugger lol. I'll keep an eye on the paint, but mainly it means that unless a car is mint in the flesh, i should not be buying thinking 'oh i can get that touched up cheaply, painted etc' - accept no flaws!

Thanks mate, it sounds like you're talking about the same place as gkzlah? there is somewhere that has a few on car sales, they say they're 12 mins from east link tunnel - so maybe the same place? plan to go out there as they have a few 350s plus some 370s.......which seem to be around the 30k mark now - ths is tempting, but probably stretching the budget too far.

it wouldnt be hard to change the interior trim. surely someone out there would be interested in the cream colour for a swap?

mine has the tan suede interior, ive been looking for a wrecked 35 sedan with black interior to do everything from carpet to roof lining

Ha, yeah - all good. Just seems like if you're whilling to spend 25k on a stock V35, why not throw in an extra 4k for 15k worth of mods.

I'm fussy with paint too, when I first got my bodykit put on and matched (as seen here: http://sgv35.com/2011/11/06/photo-shoot-with-the-vs/ ) you can see the colors were a bit off when painted - so I got the entire thing resprayed. I couldn't handle looking at my two tone paint job.

I know the place. It is Mr Jian's place. Nuwan used to have his workshop right next to Mr Jian before he moved to the new premises down the road. Website below.

Or you can go down the same road I did and pick your own and import it direct from Japan. I used Nuwan from Import Revolution for my 2006 V35. Will definately be cheaper than buying local.

Thats the place, although i found the guy super unhelpful. Maybe if you were going to buy from him he may be better.

I wish i went through IREV the guys i used weren't great :( Im still fixing their mistakes / lazyness now

Yeh i hear you - I can see you've put the work and the dollars in for sure.

But i've been around the block a few times now, I've bought $600 cars and dumped 24k into it, I've bought cheap cars - modded them with top brand parts - and each scneario i've always lost huge money. The only time I've ever come close to breaking even on a car is if I mod it, and then return it to stock for sale and sell the parts off seperately. I understand you're never going to make money on mods, but you can try control the losses.

So now I generally try and buy the cleanest stock car to start with at a competitive price- do bolt on mods only, which can be removed and sold easily, which generally controls the loss. Once you get into paint, body kits, big stereo installs, internal engine mods.....it becomes too hard to recoup your loss. Which I'm guessing you're starting to understand.....no offence intended at all, because i've been there.

anyway - are these the guys in Bayswater?

these are the cars they have on carsales currently.....same one i was talking about?

Yup. That's is Mr Jian's place. Never bought from him before but the prices seem ok at first glance. Do your usual due diligence and always ask to see the actual auction sheet for the vehicle to confirm the KMs. There is no excuse for them not having this. Original service books (with the service intervals stamped in Japanese) may or may not be available (mine took 5 months to arrive after the car) but it is obviously a plus if there is one.

    • 90lb/min @ 20psi is wonderful, not so much of a problem with the G35-1050's compressor efficiency (aside from how bad they roll back at higher pressure ratios).  The issue is more to do with the turbine's flow, which is why I'm not sold on going an even higher flowing compressor with the same turbine.  I'd say go back over Motive DVD's testing of the G35 1050 and Hawkins's comments regarding exhaust back pressure issues with it, I'd need to go back but I have in my head he went to the biggest hotside and ended up sacrificing a lot of spool (so it ended up behaving like a bigger turbo) and still had EMAP issues.  I've heard various other experiences along the lines of that. At this stage at least I rate all I've seen about Xonas (for transparency I've not used one directly, but I have spoke plenty with people who have) to have low exhaust restriction for the response they offer for any given setup - basically they allow the engine to breathe, which is good for the engine and makes making power a lot easier.  You arguably don't have to even push quite the same amount of airflow through an engine to make the same power if you don't have the bum plugged up with exhaust gas struggling to escape the engine due to an underflowing turbine.   In terms of reliability, to be fair I've had great luck with Garrett turbos as well - my GT3076R lasted forever, then I sold it and the next owner had no issues, then that car got sold and it was still going strong last I ever heard about it.  The trick is with the old GT-series turbos the compressors etc were no way near as efficient as what we have these days, it was almost hard to push them into severe overspeed situations without having a boost leak or something - and that is what often starts the failure situation.    In terms of your G35 I'm pretty sure you're running yours within sensible limits, something people with Xonas and Precision turbos aren't often so inclined to do.  The "compressor maps" are "Joe blogs ran 45psi through his 6466 so I can do the same" and built their setup to send it to the moon.  I've seen EMAP and compressor speed data where people have actually set that stuff up on Precisions and Xonas which have been run hard and the comp speed numbers are very very exciting at times - like I've seen 76mm Precisions run at rpm that you ideally shouldn't run a G35 1050 lol.   I know people who have run G-series Garretts hard and hard a failure, then replaced them with Pulsar turbos as a cheap "get it going" stop gap with the intent of doing a proper upgrade when THAT fails... and are still running the same thing.   Like anything, ymmv and it's not always to do with the quality or trustworthiness of said product. I've been provided with a bunch of compressor maps for Turbosmart turbos and will update my list based off that, they could prove to interesting reading and an interesting alternative as well.
    • Just cage it, call it a race car, and then fall in love with the chirp chirps through pit area!   Also, this is coming from someone with a completely locked diff...
    • I still have an old R32R left over from when they were a thing in the early 2000's. It was, for its time, done about right. But its time was 20 years ago.  I did try and update it a while back but it was cruelled by a (recommended) muppet of a tuna who couldnt tell his MAP from his TPS. The original spec was: Power FC, 700cc Sards, Nismo pump, 2860-5's, cams (Basically Poncam A's), Z32 AFM's and a half sorted oiling system. Thereabouts 430rwhp irrespective of what was done. So, yeah, very 1990's. I eventually got sick of it not being very refined and bought a Link G4 PNP with some 1000cc Bosch injectors. This was tuned badly and I put the car in the shed for a few years whilst I sulked and went and did other things. Ive come around to the idea of getting it going again so it has a new gearbox installed and some other minor things in the planning. So my questions are, variously (In the context of keeping the Link) What other sensors should I be running eg It has no wideband on it at the moment, nor fuel pressure. $? Is it worth chucking the old ignition system (ignitors etc) for new ignition coils? $2k? Cam/crank angle sensors? Can keep the aircon? $? Anything else? Sorry to launch another what should I do with my car thread but, you know, what should I do with my car? Random photo for historical context.
    • If you think that's harsh, go experience a KAAZ 🥲 Thoughts and prayers for Dose. I had mine modified by a diff shop to make it less brutal, no idea what they did but it's not as brutal as before. The Asian in me was being tight before and went KAAZ instead of a Nismo, lesson learned.
    • From what I understand, the normal Nismo diff is a bit harsh, and the Pro is the one that behaves more nicely, and you only pay Nismo tax twice to get it.
