Hi people. Long time since I've been on here.

I entered my 34 in the Snowy Mountains 1000 last weekend. Was a really good event until I blew my head gasket. I think my fastest run was 28.1 @ 185kph and that was my first run. by the second run I think the gasket was pretty well stuffed and i ended up being slower.

Anyhoo point of my story. I need to get some head work done before I can get it put back together and I have bought a gasket kit from just jap. Problem being that I want to upgrade the head gasket to a MLS cometic one and the kit only comes with an genuine nissan head gasket. So My question is if anyone is interested in buying the Nissan gasket off of me when it arrives. Nissan ask about $185 for it but Im happy to sell it for $130 neg

I would stay with the genuine one if I was you.

I put an aftermarket metal one on my old R32 GTR and had nothing but problems. You will probably need to have the head prepped if you do go aftermarket. Not worth the hassle IMO.

Yeah stick with the stocker mate, there's absolutely no need to "upgrade" head gasket for a stock engine or even one with mild mods.

Plus yeah you need the head and/or block prepped to ensure a flat surface etc

+1. I use a standard headgasket and have a little over 400kw atw. A better upgrade is to o-ring the head and use a standard gasket. Better head sealing with no chance of fluids mixing.
