In auto mode right? I'd thought it adjusts accordingly to the temp sensor under the dash. Don't see a point in sun sensor. Could be a chilly day with bright light!

sit in your car on a sunny day (even in winter) with the air con off and windows up. How quick does it become to warm?

See my point, it does make a difference. And yes only in Auto, would work in conjunction with the interior temp sensor.
