Combine ALL of the drugs.

But honestly while I can't really see it being a problem, Google it and speak to a doc just to be sure :)

Doctor won't know shit. He will just give you more antiflams and sleeping tablets.

Generalizing if course.

I'm taking a concoction of tablets at the moment: anti inflammatory, multi-vitamin, magnesium, joint formula, B12 and biotin

I had good results with cissus quandragularis. Got a couple of orthopods suggesting it to their patients with good results.

I'm torn here, because I also have no real faith in general practitioners (not because I believe they lack knowledge, but because I believe they don't really give a shit to do their job properly most of the time)....but at the same time, you make the most ignorant statements sometimes.

If you don't feel your GP is helping your cause, don't go to them...simple as that. Find another one or go get help from alternative medicine. If a doctor is shit, he/she will start losing clients; you're not the only ones who have ever questioned whether your doctor knows what they are talking about.

Keep in mind though, that when you have a nation of hypochondriacs and many health issues presenting the same symptoms as each other...people get frustrated and tend to blame the medical practitioners for not being able to solve their problem. Used to have the same issue when I worked for a mechanical workshop - customers gave you a misdiagnosis or were next to useless trying to help you locate the issue.

I have a good GP who has helped me with numerous issues using prescription medicine; will continue to use A+++ good seller fast postage

My gripes with GPs are from when I crushed my vertebra. Multiple times I went in to the same practice (but different GP each time) complaining of HORRIFIC cramping leaving me in tears, and f**ked sleep as a result. Multiple times I was assured it was soft tissue damage, told to rest up and take it easy, and given a valium prescription. In and out, no xray referrals, nothing.

I know it's pretty ignorant of me to paint all GPs the same after this experience, but I'm going to do it coz in a relatively short time (say less than 15 years) I'm almost guaranteed to cop some serious arthritis, and I can only hope it doesn't cripple me. All because I was assured by some lazy pricks I'd just torn a muscle.

I'd sue them if I could.

Tell your GP you want further testing! Gotta remember, these guys deal with a lot of hypochondriacs who burden the medical system and Medicare with unnecessary tests and time wasting...hence GPs opt for topical fixes first, because most patients only require that and, as I said before, symptoms present in one issue can be the same as another. That's where follow ups and second opinions are important. Specialists can get it wrong too.

You gotta work as a team rather than letting the GP run the show. Remember, you're half the diagnosis. My GP takes a more participative approach with me. It helps that I give the impression I know what I'm talking about, because I usually research things on the Internet before I go in to see him. This helps me to describe symptoms better and narrow down possibilities. He gives me options and recommendations, which are almost always the best, but if I argue that I want to go for a specific test or try a prescription drug, he'll give that to me without hassle.

I made it pretty clear the kind of pain I was in, and it's no skin off their back to waste an xray referral. I told them everything (including the part about kissing my sternum) and time and time again I was given the same answer.

It's their job to diagnose medical issues appropriately. They failed to do their job in a big way. Shouldn't be up to me to go in there and tell them what's wrong and what I want....they're the ones getting paid to do that....however this is exactly what I do NOW. I'll research the shit out of the problem I'm dealing with, and pretty much go in there and tell them what I believe is wrong. They'll either go with it, or actually pull their f**king finger out and diagnose it properly. So far it hasn't come to the latter, but thankfully I've been right each time.

I agree with you mate, they should be more proactive about it...we shouldn't have to do half their job for em...I just think its more than just GPs being lazy or trying to make as much money in as little time as possible. They can only go off what you tell em and if you don't like the job they're doing you gotta change doctors, I guess!

I suppose ultimately I actually NEED to see a GP so infrequently that I've not actually had a need to find a good one lol...most of my visits are just coz I feel like rat shit with a cold or something and just want a certificate for time off haha

This.

When i feel like its something more sinister I go to the family doctor that I have gone to since I was young just because he is up on the family history and stuff.

Yeah, used to have one of those at the small practice at Monash shops...though a combination of significantly reduced frequency in illnesses as well as typical adolescent arrogance (let's face it, I'm hardly 25 in the head :P) has seen me rarely visit GPs at all....might need to shop around next time I come down with something (or maybe NOW given I'm up shit creek and too lazy to care).

Any suggestions for a half decent GP on the southside? :P

Other than still waking up covered in sweat, I'm now also dealing with something in my house causing horrible skin irritation on my hands and feet. It feels like most of my hands (inc. the palms) are covered in nasty mosquito bites. Same with my feet. Itchiest EVER.

Nah unfortunately don't think it's scabies either. If it's still around in a couple of days I'll see a doc, but my mate whom recently experienced the exact same thing had great results with Zyrtec so I'm gonna grab some of that and see how it goes.

Plus my "rash" if you could call it that doesn't look anything like the examples of scabies I found haha....that shit looks really worrying! Mine's mostly from scratching lol

Well given it's also on the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet (feet are currently driving me INSANE), I'm not so sure it'd be a parasite. I'll PM you with a bit more deets to save flooding this thread.

I used to see Andrew Pitcher in Deakin, he was good but then again he was also my doctor in Griffith when I was a midget before he moved to Canberra...

I went to Ginninderra Medical centre, told me I had a strained muscle in my calf it was twice it's usual size and said "if you are concerned go to the hospital" went to the hospital and I had a DVT and found out I have f**ked up blood resulting in Warfarin oh yippee... Some Doctors are shit  ...

In regards to sleeping, Generally I don't, I can be ridiculously tired and still not sleep, been on all sorts of meds and still no sleep and not short term either, years and years and years only thing that makes me sleep is Mersyndol or Endone  I average about 4hrs a night if I am lucky

    • Duncan:- it affect both sides.  Driver side is worse.
    • That seems like a very special issue!  Does it affect both sides? Either way, I would disconnect the driver's side switch and see if it still happens, noting that might require removal of the whole door card which is a bit of a pain (it does on V37 and HY51)
    • MBS206:- The windows start to slowly open themselves. GTSBoy:- Battery is new since Dec.
    • I currently have a 2008 370GT Coupe, with the big brakes (Akebeno if I'm correct), and Its coming time to get new pads. Previously, I had a 2003 350GT Coupe with the stock sized brakes, not Brembos. I had custom wheels on it that were pretty open to the brakes, and when I first put the wheels on it, the rims where completely coated with brake dust. A few years after adding the new rims, I needed to change to pads on that car. I didn't do any research, but I told the mechanic of the problem with the brake dust. I also told him I didn't track the car or even drive around the streets harshley. But the dust was an issue. The mechanics changed the pads to a different compound, and the dust was GONE! The other change I noted was that when coming to a complete stop, instead of having to press harder on the pedal as I approached 0kph, I had to actually lift off a little to not come to a hard jerky stop.( My unfounded explanation is they became stickier as they heated by stopping ) Since I got my 370gt with big brakes, I noticed that that as I came closer to stopping, I had to press harder and harder to reach a full stop. I am not talking about hard, just harder. I brought the car in from another state, so when I had a blue slip done, I asked the mechanic what he thought of the brakes, and he thought they were brilliant. The only negative of these pads on the 350GT, was that they squealed when cold. So driving out of a shopping center carpark, it was a little embarrassing, as the brakes squealed, and I am sure people thought that I needed new brakes, when they were actually fresh. I have no idea of what type of compound they were on the 350gt, but whatever it was, I want to get the exact same on my 370GT. They weren't ridiculously expensive, and were replaced at the local JAX (which is no longer open), so I am certain they would be a pretty common big brand, off the shelf type/brand. My current mechanic suggested I need top get the rear pads changed soonish, but he suggested standard Brembo pads. Which I expect to behave the same as the current ones and not like the ones on the 350GT.  I don't think dust will be an issue on the 370GT. With the behaviour I describe above on the 360GT, does anyone have a suggestion of pad material that will act like the change I had done on the 350GT?
