Car Mounted Speed Camera's

hey all. just wanted to pick peoples brains. I'm just trying to figure out if the car mounted speed 'safety' cameras that hide in the trees and other area's you cant see them have the same flash set up that fixed camera's have?

Ive just never seen any operate late and night and was curious.

I think i got done near the ingle farm shops on Montague road at 1am this morning. Car was hiding in the trees, the flashes were about 3 seconds apart which i think was too long (compared to the fixed ones)

im sure i was really endangering life doing 67 in a 60 zone at 1am on a cold drizzly night. maybe the rain will give a false reading:)

im guessing i def have been done but never noticed the car ones operating late at night (i bet the driver wasnt even in the car, it was probably parked out the front of his house and he wasn't in the car)

Yep, they defs flash at night but not during the day, not sure how far apart the flashes are but it sounds about right

yep that be the one then. pricks. i cant recall any deaths on that road.

yer idk it says its a "safety camera" lol it has got me a few times i always forget its there

yer i no but its 70 then 60 at the lights so i get cought doing around 65 and only twice lol

Nothing worse than thinking you got done, i reckon i went through a mobile one the other day on churchill rd, not to mention in the work van to make it worse. So im anxiously checking the mail box each day.

Anyone know how long they roughly take to send out the fine?

at least being in a work car you can get away with not losing points. even if the fines is nearly doubled.

Rather take the points than the fine to be honest, but be interesting to see if i did get done, even now im still doubting whether i was over or not.

On second thought they have changed it now haven't they, you get more points and less of a fine? Still thinking it was 1 point and 200plus fine for about 5-10kmh, its 2 points now and 150 or so?

hang your front number plates on loose cable ties. as you drive faster, the wind pushes them up under the bumper and out of sight. im sure theres a way to rig the rear one to do something similar...

or drive slower

seems fair, but being done for 65 in a 60 zone seems a bit harsh. i know ive been done so have to cop it on the chin. im sure maybe light weight hindges on numberplates might work too

btw i've been flashed twice on the kwaka really late at night, and i'm 100% i was on or below the posted limit. Maybe they flash every now and then to ensure they are still working, or to just throw fear into people.

^^ or your speedo could be out of wack and you were actually travelling a bit faster than you thought???

Never received a fine, and both these instances were many months back. I remember because I was freezing my balls off!
