Have an OS Giken 1 - 5 box i bought off mayhem last year, just before Powercruise (October 2011). It was in the car approx 3 weeks before i busted it at Powercruise, driving like a numpty.

It's been sitting in my shed since as i went back to a standard box for the interim while i repaired the OS box, but the standard one has held up fine for 12 months & i have no incling to fix the one in my shed... So it's up for sale now. Suspected broken Lay Shaft, but i will confirm tonight once i crack it in half. If my suspitions are correct, it is an easy fix & the gears are all still good... It just doesn't currently have reverse or forward gears 1, 2, 3 & 5... Which is why i beleive it to be the shaft.

Wanting $1200 as is or $3k repaired. Open to offers though as i need some cash, so don't be scared to lowball.

Email/text/phonecall preferred as i wont be on here a whole lot in the near future.

Thought i'd update in here to save being asked the same questions over & over again...

I am in Perth, WA. Freight is not an issue provided you pay for it.

I got the box open to a point where i could see a few of the cogs & all seemed sweet. Couldn't pull the bellhousing any further forward that approx 1.5 inches due to something holding it back & my peanut sized brain not being able to work out exactly what. When i spin the input shaft it will spin freely for say 2 revolutions, then bind up & turn the gears slightly before spinning freely again. This confirms in my mind that it is a shaft that has sheered & when the pieces re-connect, it turns everything slightly before 'letting go' again.

I have 6 people all saying they definitely want it pending what i find when i finally manage to get it open fully. 3 of them are willing to pay my asking price (which is extremely generous), so i recant my statement above about "lowballers welcome" for now.

I will do my best to crack it completely early this week, but i have quite a lot on & can't commit to anything at this stage.

Soooooo, anyone care to share some info on how exactly to seperate the bellhousing completely? I have taken off the nosecone piece that houses the bearings & slides over the input shaft, taken off 3 x circlips (2 from around bearing case that sits on input shaft, 1 from the little shaft that pertrudes through bellhousing on top left), i have undone all bolts that connect bellhousing to box body (12 in total from memory) & i am now stuck with a 1.5" gap between bellhousing/box. Is there more than 3 circlips & i am missing one? Is there a secret nut/locking mechanism somewhere i am failing to recognise?? Am i not using a big enough hammer??? Haha

Cheers all.

    • It's the adhesive holding the ceramic wheel to the shaft the fails on 90% of them.
    • Foreign debris, physical shock, boost leak, could be anything honestly. The danger in taking all the timing out of a tune/hitting the R&R corner is that even if the engine doesn't detonate your turbo is taking a lot of abuse from high EGT. Also, even if nothing goes wrong it is a journal bearing that is spinning at 100k RPM on boost. Eventually it goes through enough cold start/pressure cycles to wear it out.
    • I kinda accidentally saw this, and was interested, but It actually seems to replaces the whole center computer, using the existing screen and buttons. AND it may only be for a G37 and not compatible with a Japanese 370. So its not for me, but someone else may be interested to look into it. Its about $680USD. If I am understanding it right, it basically replaces/installs and android pc that integrates with the existing screen. But I could be wrong. https://gromaudio.com/vline/ The video I first saw was the following, with very little and unclear details.     Even if your not interested in the system, the video on their site was pretty comforting in showing how simple the whole centre comes out
    • hfygrte52 what side you looking for? Do you care what color car it's off? Found a white LH side on here: https://skylinespares.com.au/product/nissan-skyline-r33-coupe-rear-tail-light/   Aussie parts place but will ship to USA. Maybe get it before there's a tarrif on 25yo shit box parts
    • I’m with Shannon’s for all 5 of our cars. Agreed values seem fair, premium price is okay. ($210 ish a month, all comprehensive).  Have claimed once with them for a not at fault claim with another car where my car had no damage. Was one call after the incident and an email after. Deemed not at fault so premium didn’t go up either.    I have called up and spoken with people who are not familiar with certain cars and didn’t agree with me on value or let their personal vehicle preferences effect the call. But called back later and got someone else who was more agreeable.
