R33 Gts25 Lsd?

hey everyone.

im majorly confused. does an r33 gts25 (non turbo) 1995 model (series 1) come with an lsd? from searching the web there is mixed opinion if it does... last night i was testing the traction on my private road and according to my mate who was standing on the side of the road he only saw one wheels leaving skid marks. could i possibly have an lsd and being so old its become an open diff. how do i find out what im running and how do i return it back to its former glory of lsd ness...

pull off the outer cover of the diff, grab a stick welder and get busy

or buy a KAAZ LSD but i would call it a waste of money for a NA.

after doing some digging around on the interwebs ive found there are two varients of the model i have. there is the gts25 which has chassis code ecr33 and then there is the gts25 type s which has chassis code e-ecr33. the type s as everyone probably knows has 10more kw and an lsd stock... guess what i own.. type s...

Is it viscous or mechanical? You may be able to shim it or just look for a good second hand unit if you don't want to pay for a new unit ( save the money towards your new GTR)

hahaha id say its viscous as it has a leak in it. and one day ill save up and get a gtr but for the time being im happy with my gts25.

Not to hijack the thread, didn't see the need to create a new one. But I'm interested in putting in a LSD in my N/A '96 33 gts25 (Open diff)

Now to my understanding of what I've researched, the half shafts will have to be changed over to the gtst ones to accommodate for a VLSD off of a gtst, is this true? Will I need to change anything else?

I'll be drifting as well (only in the wet), so I'm hoping it won't wear out within months.

~$550 all up, opinions?

VLSD is not worth the effort of transplanting. Do not waste your time. If you want an LSD, get a real one.

That's what I was thinking, but to spend almost $1k on it, is it worth it? Say a KAAZ LSD, will it bolt straight on? Being an N/A and practically only drifting in the wet

just weld the sucker.... it will be the best thing you will do.

I think any money spent on an NA Skyline, especially in the cause of drifting, would be better spent at the bar on a Saturday night.

do what im planning on doing. save up 3,000 and dont spend it on your skyline. just buy a decent condition turbo s13 and take that out for skids when your bored.
