JapLink Motors used to do "consignment" for a set fee before their move to Rydalmere.

If some other dealer will do that for you and not screw you with scaled percentages - preceded by a detailing fee - just choose someone trustworthy. And keep up your insurance!

If i can find one in really mint condition

Probably an E31 840 / 850 CI - always liked how they look.

or something more family oriented

like a Skoda Superb Station Wagon.

Or if money is really tight.. a Stagea lol

BMW 135i Coupe - for a pure fun/performance oriented car135i is pretty basic when it comes to luxuries though.

E92 BMW 335i Coupe - if you care about aesthetically pleasing people - status - girlfriend approval.

both got a cracking engine that respond very well to tuning mods.

Tossing between these at the moment:

BMW 135i Coupe

E92 BMW 335i Coupe

Mk2 Audi TTS

Evo X MR

What do you guys think?

Don't know anything about the BMW's or Audi's. But there's one of those MK2 TT's in town, they look beautiful.

I have 2 mates with the new CJ Ralliart lancers and they love them, very good looking cars and the inside is amazing. Loads of features and best of all they're damn quick even from factory.

hard choice..

135i is faster than the 335i i believe (same engine, smaller body) depends if you want the luxuries of the 3 series etc..

TTS, i would be looking at TTRS.. there expensive but coming down in price..

EVO X would be great, heard there horrible on fuel thats about it.

as for my next car.. Been looking at 911 996 GT2s recently.. look like they'd be alot of fun, but i doubt i will be getting rid of the 34R anytime soon...

Strongly dissagree, both CJ Ralliart lancers and STI Subie's look mean as f*ck when modified properly.

Subaru lost it from the introduction of the bugeye

lancers... evo 9 was the last one that counts.

both have gone towards shopping trolley styling after those points, which is why people dont buy them.

but then again i was referring to factory styling. a few mods can make even a mazda 121 bubble look aggressive

I've just come from a 2008 MPS.

I'll say first up that they're a much better car than the XR5 in every way other than engine note. But then I'll follow that up by saying they're a fairly confusing car, and I sold mine after 6 months.

PROS:

- amazingly torquey motor - 380NM from factory - pulls like a V8, 3rd gear is phenomenal (tests have recorded quicker 80-120km than Porsche 911)

- fair amount of potential to extract more power easily and cheaply (200 at the wheels only requires an off the shelf flash tune and a fuel pump)

- good equipment levels (Bose, Xenons, partial leather, climate control, cruise etc)

- good aftermarket availability and online community in the US

- not bad on fuel, I avg'd 10L/100km city and spirited driving

- nobody knows what they are, surprises a lot of people on the street, smokes Golf GTi's.

CONS

- nobody knows what they are - so you get zero street cred

- they're an economy car, and you don't have to look much beneath the surface to see they're a cheap car with a stinkin' big motor and some flashy factory add ons

- torque steer - hence the detuned motor, but apply power in anything other than a straight line and it will put you into the nearest fence/bush/tree/car in next lane.

- don't even think about it in the wet - anything over half throttle is wheelspin and manic flashing lights of traction control.

- short ratio gear box is atrocious in traffic, and dual mass fly wheel impossible to balance and so inconsistent - i never mastered a launch. always a lucky dip of wheelspin, clutch slip or bunny hop - sometimes all three.

not trying to put you off - some guys love them to bits - but it just wasnt the right car for me.

^ AGREE! Last night is usually our meet night up here, get about 15 cars. My mate has a black MPS with a few mods, we were cruising next to eachother doing about 75 so i think we were both in 3rd gear. Then we were at the top of a hill and descending and he gunned it, that thing nearly took off. I reckon he got up to about 130 in the space of 200m or there abouts. He loves the thing!

^ lol at that

hah - nah but you know what i mean - people see them and just see a girly Mazda 3.

I even had a guy in a B-Spec Liberty Wagon pull up to me at the lights and tell me to give my car back to my girlfriend! Nek minut.....

    • Oh yeah forgot to also mention need to also unplug the IACV as well. Thanks for the reminder @MBS206 Unplugging the TPS takes it out of closed loop so you're able to screw down the IACV without the ECU trying to add/subtract timing to maintain the idle (not sure PowerFC can even do this, but Nistune and the OEM definitely does)
    • For sale is my 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GT-T, tuned to 234 kW / 313 hp. I've had the car for a few years as my daily driver. The car is original (as far as Skylines go), with only a few minor upgrades to enhance performance and driving experience, as typical for such a car of its age. Overall, it is in great condition with no body rust, thanks to its earlier import date. It features a top-notch security system (not literally, but it's great!) with remote start and still functional 4-wheel steering via HICAS. It comes with several performance and handling upgrades, including:     Hypergear 450HP Turbocharger running 17 PSI boost, installed mid-2021 by Jaustech     550cc injectors     Nistune ECU     Front-Mount Return-Flow Intercooler     X-Force Stainless Steel Exhaust     Upgraded engine mounts     Bottom end bearings replaced     BC Coilovers     Lenso DR1 rims     Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE003 TL 245/40R18 97W tires, fitted early 2023 The interior is mostly stock, with a few additions:     Viper Satellite Tracking System with remote start     Bluetooth Double-Din Touchscreen Head Unit     Steering wheel cover Cons:     A few paint imperfections here and there     Driver’s seat shows more wear than the others. It's not torn at all, but I've added a seat cover to protect its condition. I also have a CarVX Vehicle History report available for serious buyers, so you don’t need to purchase it yourself. Price: $26,000 ONO.
    • I've had two suzukis in the past have an extremely hard time turning over and not starting after sitting for a few weeks. Ended up the alternator would seize up causing the starter to force. Same issue both times.  Maybe they're sourcing their alternators from the same place...
    • Ah right. Maybe my rb just loves chewing through batteries lol.
    • On the R34 can't you just unplug the IACV? This is the way I've always done it on the R33. Disconnect IACV, get it idling around 650rpm, and then do a power reset on the ECU to get it to relearn idle (factory ECU).   The big reason no one has touched on as to why you'd want to get the base idle right, is that it means the computer needs to make smaller adjustments to get a good idle at 700-750rpm.   Also, cleaning the IACV won't normally make the car suddenly idle lower or higher. The main issue with the IACV gumming up is that the valve sticks. This means the inputs the ECU gives, aren't translating to changes in air flow. This can cause idle choppy ness as the ECU is now needing to give a lot of input to get movement, but then it moves too far, and then has to do the same in reverse, and it can mean the ECU can't catch stalls quickly either.
