Hi guys i need some help with my car, After almost 7 months i started my car and it doesn't want to start. The panel shop might have washed the whole engine bay and maybe the car was parked outside because they was water in the spark plugs, as the result there is no spark in them. Thinking thats the problem i put in 6 new plugs in and gave ago and no differences was made, it didnt started again. so i pulled them out to tried to start the car to see if there was any spark in them but unfortunately there was no spark in all 6. I guess that all 6 splitfire coil parks are dead. before i go spending $500 -$600 in buying the new ones does anyone have any spare ones lying around that has some life left in them that i could borrow and just check if thats the problem or is it the wires or something else thats related or connected to the spark plugs.

The car was running fine when i dropped it to the panel shop as it had a front end accident and all my 6 months of pay as gone int getting it fixed and now i got a new problem. also is there a fuse for the spark plugs that might have been blown due to the water.

Hey mate,

Get some contact cleaner or Maf cleaner if you have it and spray all the contacts.

Try to clean out all the terminals up inside the coilpacks and the loom plugs for the coils.

Is it Series 1 or 2 ? If 1, perhaps the igniter could've died? CLEAN EVERYTHING !!!

The answer to your last question is Yes.

Firstly do you get any noise at all when you go to crank it over? A click? turns over but doesn't start?, nothing at all?

Do the lights on the dash come on?

If it's absolutely nothing then it's a fuse. (providing the battery is ok and is connected).

Alternators, Starter motors, fuel pumps, AFM's, Coil packs etc get worse over time.

The only other thing I can think of is a critical wire not connected.

But first check your fuses both in car and under the bonnet.

What worries me is you mentioned had a front ender and they washed under the bonnet.

Were you able to drive it away from the shop?

Hey mate, i dont know if there is any smoke or not because i haven't checked that.

It make all the noise but it just doesn't start, the engine turns on and the all lights on the dash come on as well. Car was parked for almost 7 months so the battery was dead as i result i had to jump start it. the fuse box thats under the bonnet was removed and was been put together after it was fixed. i did checked all the fuse and they are all fine.

If you could come have a look sometime it will be very good. i live in charnwood Belconnen.

Thanks for the info.

Battery is is my next bet.

You've got new plugs (Gapped at 0.8 i hope). If it was coil pack it would be one not all 6.

As Rob said use some contact cleaner to displace the water and create a good conductor

If it runs the same ignitor as the 32 I can bring one of them too.

PM me your mobile number. I'll be out before Thursday if you dont have it running by then.

Century Battery - bout $140

New ignitors cost over $600 for my GTR !!! So just swap it over to start with.

Def's swap another battery in first - see how you go

When they did the plugs at Trojan he should have resolved the starting issue too

Ps. I may have a brand new S1 R33 Ignitor for you :)

They are different from the R32 GTR

2nd hand ones tend to FAIL - it's the age

the new spark plugs were bought just before i had the accident and i never got the time to put them in. so i used it now.

If i cant manage to find a ignitor can i just borrow one from you to see if thats the problem. also how much do you want for the new one because i might have to buy that if thats the problem.

so after cleaning the whole coilpack, loom and the putting new spark plugs, 2nd hand working ignitor and a new battery the car still doesnt want to start  now i guess i need to work my ass off and save some money to get it towed to a shop to have it fixed but which wont be till a month or so as i work at a shit place which doesnt pay good.

If anyone wants to come have a look and see what might be wrong would be highly appreciated
